It depends how much you want to spend and which DX camera you have. The Nikon 10mm-20mm AF-P lens is a nice little lens, very light (feel very plastic) but very good, and very inexpensive. If focuses very quickly and silently, and it's optical performance is very good. The problem is it will not work on older DX cameras. You can check the Nikon site for compatibility. The Sigma 10mm-20mm lens is also very good, but much heavier. And of course the Nikon 10mm-24mm lens is not that expensive new and a bargin used.

You might send a Private Message to UHH member 'dziadzi' who recently had a Nikkor 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 DX ED lens for sale. It might still be available.

I had read good things of the Tokina 11-20, and it is f/2.8.
I personally have the Tokina 11-16 2.8 and I am very happy with it, but mainly use it for astro or it's effect, probably too wide for groups of people.

Unless you like distortion, I wouldn’t recommend anything much wider than 50mm for either subject.

",,,Unless you like distortion, I wouldn’t recommend anything much wider than 50mm for either subject..."

This is absurd... and obvious the poster doesn't have clue on how to effective use wide angle optics..
Many published fashion editorials are shot far wider than 24mm (FX)

The post I read referred to group portraits and landscapes.

RWR I'm a bridal makeup artist... it is a primary source of my revenue...
As such I work with a considerable number of high end Wedding Shooters...

They ALL without exception have a 24mm (FX) focal length in their kit... And use the 24mm length!
In fact the 24-70mm is considered virtually mandatory in a wedding shooter's kit
btw, 16mm DX is 24mm FX (if you're math challenged)

I've shot countless weddings commercially and always use 24mm wide...

How many wedding group images have you shot commercially RWR?
Please don't post questionable (read invalid) statements on the Main Forum...
Thank you for your thoughtful consideration...

Thanks juan_uy
I appreciate you support...

btw, a little know fact about that stellar ultra fast Tokina 11-16 2.8 is it actually works well on FX (full frame) from 15mm to 16mm (image circle covers the entire FX frame). How sweet is that!

I've actually used it at 16mm on a D3x and it rocks like an ultra fast f/2.8 24mm (sharp in the center, but a tad soft at the edges)...

Enjoy your Tokina!

I do a lot of wide angle shooting...just mot for groups of people. Yes...it can be done very nicely, but it requires a lot of extra effort that sometime is just not possible. For instance, if the group is arranged in straight lines, those in the center will appear noticeably larger than those at the edges. (Because they are noticeably closer to the camera.) So it is necessary to curve the lines in order to maintain more or less equal distances. Similarly, if the group is in multiple lines, those in the back will appear much smaller than those in the front...again because their relative distance from the camera is so much greater. And in fact, as you work to get more and more people in a shot using a wide angle lens, everyone gets smaller even without distortion.

All of these problems can certainly be managed to produce better results. The point is that just slapping an extreme wide angle lens on a camera doesn't immediately fix the group photography problem.

I already new that, but good to have a first-hand review on its use in FX.
Some time in the future it is in my plans to add an FX body (at the moment would be either D750 or Z6) and although I would eventually change the Tokina for FX glass, at least I would be able to use it meanwhile at 16mm :)
