I would immediately backup your whole system and then do a diagnostic test of your hard drives.

Everyone on this website should have 3 copies of any data file they want or need. 1st, original, 2nd backup to a local hard drive and the 3rd off site.

My separate hard drive I store all my photos starter failing about 6 months ago. I recovered every file from my local backup

If your hard drive is starting to go, bad sectors can play havoc causing many issues. when windows or an app tries to access something that was located where the bad sectors are, it's going be an issue. I've had 30+ years of IT experience from building PC's to servers.

Wow, did I get a big scare yesterday

I sat down at my computer to do some work and weird things started happening. My camera would come on, the mouse pointer would jump all over the place, programs with open up unexpectedly, and a few more things.

First thing I did was unplug my external hard drives and turn the internet off. No fix. Now I'm thinking virus so I tried to scan, that would work, so I reinstalled the virus software did a scan and found no problem.

So now I'm thinking something else is going on with the computer, not a virus. I took a deep breath step back and rethought. I remembered the day or two before I was looking around on my desk move things around and put my mouse pad and mouse on top of my wacom. I had already suspected it might be a driver problem on the mouse or something at least to do with the mouse so I made some changes with it and no fix. I then unplug the Wacom. Wala problem solved.

the whole problem was trying to use the mouse on top of the wacom, the two interacting and fighting each other and causing big problems. I've been operating that way for several months with no problem, I thought, but in thinking back it was happening erratically once in awhile, until it got real bad yesterday. So I guess now I will operate with the Wacom unplugged until I do some editing, then I'll plug it in.

Just another weird happening that I thought I'd share in case somebody else I have the same problem, orchid maybe offer a solution other than leaving the wacom tablet unplugged.
Wow, did I get a big scare yesterday br br I sat ... (show quote)

My Wacom is tucked right next to my Monitor and my mouse is no more than 10 inches away with NO interference. Sure, using on top of the Watcom is a problem. But the Waycom came WAYYYYY later than the Mouse in the evolution, so they're built to not interfere, even with a wireless mouse. Just don't go moving anything on the Waycom's surface and not expect it to transmit that action to the CPU.

I wasn't worried about losing my data as much (I have several back ups) as I was about an inttruder or virus. I hate starting over, but I can from the backups, its just a pita.
