My very brief foray into studying biology basically said that a v***s isn't exactly a life form. That was in the late 70's and they may have changed their minds by now...maybe even more than once. I will defer to your expertise then. If it were to ever thaw out....could it be dangerous?
It would depend on the integrity of the casing of the v***s. If the casing is severely damaged the bits of RNA would leak out and be innocuous. Additionally, if the spikes on the outer casing are severely damaged then the v***s cannot attach successfully to a cell surface.
Given that a v***s is a sac of "stuff" then anything that ruptures or damages that sac would "k**l" the v***s. Freezing creates osmotic stress on the sac, and the formation of ice crystals both inside and outside the sac can mechanically disrupt the membrane. The key in successful freeze preservation of anything is minimizing the damage from both factors. With foods you are trying to maintain texture, taste and nutrition, while with "living" things you are hoping to maintain function.
You are correct that a v***s is not a life form (so "k**l" and "living" in quotes above) in that it cannot replicate on its own. It effectively enters a cell and dumps its RNA into the cell "factory" and the cell goes and builds v***ses instead of what it would normally do.

So it infiltrates like a dirty little c****e and basically get the locals to produce recruits.....or I guess it can do that thing you said....

Yeah, kinda like Trumpism took over all rational thought from the Republicans in the House and Senate.
I hear there are a few like The Lincoln Project that are trying hard to get The Party back on the right track. Fox running an ad for the project really pissed POTUS off last night.

You lose.
You resort to personal attacks proving I am 100% right as usual.
You realize that you are losing your mind.

It also is a c****a v***s.
I’ve never had the flu since.
I do suspect I had C***D in February.
That answers a lot of questions.

It was not a c****av***s - it was an H3N2 influenza v***s. It did k**l a lot of people - mostly those over 65 - in two years it k**led about as many Americans who have died in the past two months. Most people who got sick were only sick for the typical 4-5 days, not the three weeks or so of this current v***s. It waned in the summer, as most influenza v***s epidemics do, and came back with a vengeance the second year.

That was precious.
And I even learned -- oops, saw -- a new word today from my teacher. Someday it may make it into a dictionary.

Ok, so I came across something today about a p******c just over 50 years ago. What p******c could that be you say? The Hong Kong Flu p******c of 1968-69.
Ok so I was just a wee'un back then (3rd or 4th grade) and a number of you are Vietnam vets or similarly aged. What are your recollections of this event?
Were people masked?
Did businesses close down?
Did schools close down during the school year?
I looked it up;
Total population in US -1968 was 200.7 million.
Total dead from Hong Kong flu in US 38,000.
That is approximately 0.019% of the country or a death rate of 18.9/100k (1968)
Today with C***d19 we have;
Total population - 331,002,651
Current total dead from C****-** is 74431
That is approximately 0.022% of the country or a death rate of 22.1/100k (2020)
1968 - No lockdowns, no shuttered businesses, closed borders?, no masks.
2020 - lockdown everywhere, all non-essential businesses closed, borders closed, masks required.
I'm looking for comments from those old enough to know what was going on. I was there but as an 8 year old my priority was learning to ride a bicycle and playing baseball.
It just seems to me that either we were unbelievably stupid in 1968 or unbelievably stupid today. It's possible both are true I suppose.

Population densities are far greater now than then. Shifting populations (in particular, by way of air travel) are far greater now than then. Consequently, the likelihood of t***smission is inherently greater now than then. We should be massively more cautious. Different game; different ball park.

I can’t fault you for calling your own post a lie.
