I’ve used those Didn’t Work! Not for long term!

My images always go behind a mat, ALWAYS work in the long run.

At a photo club I was taught that if you want to be able to reuse the same board for later contests, just wait 30 seconds after you spray the photo to place it on the board. After the contest you can remove the photo and use the same board again!

I don’t do mats nor do I put glass in front of my images in a frame. I see how a mat would could hold down the edges from coming loose but not my style.

Question: what brands of photo mounting spray work the best, and which don’t work well.

I no longer use the sprays. On large prints , it often requires the use of an extra pair of hands and accidents occur. I currently use double-sided mounting tapes that come in several widths and serves to add a little air space between the print and the rear papers or board. The Matt board that follows on top completes the sandwich nicely. I can work alone without the fear of the messy sprays and the clean-up that would almost certainly follow.

The Coda cold mount system is what many labs use.

Thanks Mr.Burk. I have no idea what that is but I will look it up to see if I can adapt it to my humble work space. Stay safe and thanks again.

Do the mounting the easy, fast way, AND COMES IN ALL SIZES; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0161W334K/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_5?smid=AT5PBZ

Make real sure your print it aligned before you remove the backing on the foam board!!!!!! Once it's down, it's down.

Spray: I only use: "Premium Decor" (Get it at True Value.."Less than $4.00/can) Other places to buy I'm sure. It comes in; High Gloss, Matt, or Satin. As a Professional Portrait Photographer, I am very particular!!! And I have to be. That's why I use these. "FAST AND EASY"!!!!

The spray dries very fast, and is EXCELLENT!!!!
Thanks,
Boone.

I use only archival mounting tape, I have no use for any sprays.

I guess that’s where I stand. Museum mounting style. I like to be able to move or alter in the future. Just my way.

This is not the answer to your question but is something else to think about. Dry mounting your pictures. It takes a press but is really neat and clean. Nothing sticky and it doesn't really go wrong. Problems might be that you can't undo it and that a dry mount press can be spendy if you aren't using it fairly often. I paid for mine with one big mounting job for the State of Alaska about thirty years ago.

If you want the best, it is expensive and is available in different sizes. I would experiment with it on some all photo's until you get the hang of it.
But for casual use, this is the best that is out there.

I lucked out. I shot store items for the WIC program. Sixteen shots. They wanted thirty sets of 8x10s. After they got the pictures they wondered if I could mount them somehow. I said yes for $2 per 8x10. 30x16x$2. $960. They said go for it. I bought a dry mount press. Shipping the heavy press to Alaska brought it to right around $1000. One job and I have a press forever.

Yes. The spray I mentioned is a "Clear Coat". (Premium Decor) It is used for all sorts of things. Blue prints, old documents, any art work. It will make sure the document, or photo will never yellow with age. Also, the product comes in Matt, Satin or Gloss. (I apply 3 coats (very thin) and let dry about 10 min. between coats. Great product.
Thanks,
Boone.
