I'am in the high desert also for now and spent much of my life here,"60yrs" and this is one of the better sand dune shots that I've seen.Very well done.

To each his own. I love the sky in the Sand. Not quite natural but adds beauty to the photo.

"Not quite natural"...:D You need to come out West... That sky is as natural as can be... It's out there every morning...just like that - I have thousands of images.... ;)

Totally agree with you, I lived out there for 18 yrs then came back to the midwest. The sky is much more pale here than in AZ. It is exactly as it looks in your pix.... like I said, the desert has its own beauty. If you think the day time sky is beautiful, try looking at the night sky away from the city. I have truly never seen more stars than in the desert.

Night is incredible... you can see the entire band of the Milky Way above you, and you can spot a couple of other spiral galaxies with cheap binoculars..

absolutely fabuous shots. First off larryd you are lucky to have that rich deep blue sky. its an incredible backdrop. love the texture in your photos but especially sand. you have an oportunity in the desert to build up a portfolio of what i call minimalist style shots. sand would be a perfect example. simple elegant, yet still captivating.

Thanks... I have quite a few sand images.. I'll probably post a few, but I'll start a different thread ... things get lost if a thread is too crowded...

Now, the blue skies are dominant in the summer and mid winter... clouds are cropping up now for the spring

Clouds? Did you reeeeeealllly say CLOUDS? LarryD...are you fibbin'? <Laf'n> Anyway, I'm partial to the sand and yuccas. Nice stuff. Spent a lot of time on the Colorado River as a squirt and loooooove the desert. Thanks for sharing these.

We Desert Rats are reduced to dirt photos and dry sagebrush at times....

The desert is a macro shooters paradise. I would rather be in a desert in bloom than almost any place else.

I call this one "Yucca Stalks"... because it's....... well, yucca stalks :D

Really nice pic with a comment that made me laugh out loud...Thanks....!Linda Morton

Does "stunning sand shot" get too alliterative ? Well, it suits, so shush up ! Yucca Stalks reminds me of White Sands . .

Taken Along the Apache Trail, Arizona, drove a few mile back in off the main road. Found this old mansion the next morning after rain and a dusting of snow overnight. We were Jabelina hunting.
