It also generates a pain in the butt, dealing with all the nitwits out there, who will bid, and then back out of the deal. If they do end up paying you for it, you have to deal with PayPal, who will make you wait for your money until “the Nitwit” picks up his mail, or ends up calling you, telling you someone stole it off his porch. Sell your equipment thru MPB, B&H or one of the other reputable companies. It’s worth it.

The only way I can use EBay is a buy it now auction and ship with Signature required no matter what it is. I hate using them due to all the fees but sometimes in my rural area I need a bigger audience. Last camera gear I sold went to Adorama. There trade in price is better than the cash price. In my case it was $300 more which I took.

I’ve sold a number of bodies and lenses to MPB. I sought bids for my stuff from them as well as KEH. In all cases, MPB beat the KEH prices. Only when KEH ran an extra 10% for bought equipment were they competitive. MPH sent me a FedEx label, I sent the stuff in, and money was in my CU within a few days. Allow about a week for them to confirm the condition evaluation. Highly recommended. My only issue with them is that occasionally, stuff you might want to buy is tricky to find.

Welcome aboard. To answer your question, MPB is a very good honest company to do business with.

Agree. Used them 3 times.

I have bought 3 Nikon items from MPB and all pieces were PERFECT. In fact two of the items included oem parts that were extra that just made it a bonus. I have a SD-9 battery pack on order now, waiting to see condition. Anything used electronic is a throw of the dice.

I was very happy with mpb when I sold my old camera and some lenses to them a couple years ago.

What lenses do you have and how much for the lenses and camera?

Facebook market place is another place to try, cost nothing and it’s better than CL.

That may be true in some instances, but not all. I made a bid to buy some equipment on facebook market and sent the payment but then was blocked by the seller and nothing sent to me. I did get the money back by going to the local police who assisted in contacting the seller (he lived in the same state, different town) and eventually, with charges against him pending, I was refunded the money. It took me around four months to get the money, but I did get it. The lesson I learned was more valuable than the items I would have received.

Final take away from this, use caution, common sense and be aware there are swindlers and scam artists out there, everywhere. I would stick with the more reputabe buyers and sellers.

That’s an awful story for sure. Glad you got your money back. Hope he gets convicted. As for me when dealing with FB MP I only deal local and cash and so far I have had great luck.

Give Fred Miranda a try. I’ve had lots of success selling my gear there.

Wait for Nikon offers a trade in. You get the most money that way.

I saw this add for mpb for selling your older camera gear. You can also buy used equipment from them. Has anyone used them before? I read the reviews online and of course they are all positive. I bought a used Nikon D750 at Hunts camera for Christmas and I no longer need my two Nikon D80s and DX lenses that I have for them.

All of my used equipment is sold on Ebay. I get between 50-70% more for it selling it myself than by trading it in. Yes, ebay takes a cut, but I still end up saving lots more money. On a recent mint Nikon deal the difference between what B&H was going to give me and what I sold it for myself on ebay was $1200.00.
Not bad for a couple hours work.
I will never give my equipment to a re seller. You are THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY.
My equipment, my savings. And, by selling it myself I have a LOT more money in my pocket for the next item I want to buy. In my case, it is the Sony 600 mm f4.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

MPB is my go to place for buying/selling my used gear. They are outstanding~ I sold my Canon 5D MK II to them after an offer from Adorama who I thought was low. Sent it to MPB via a free FedEx label, and I realized $170.00 more from MPB. Try them, If you don't like their offer, they will send it back free. You have nothing to lose~

BTW, ya got any Canon gear?

I am sure businesses like MPB, KEH or B&H are honest businesses but they do have a business to make money. So they have to pay you less than someone who wants to buy the camera to use. Plus they have to pay for the cost of putting the money out up front. Most businesses have debt and cameras sitting on the shelves cost money.
So the best would be to find someone that would buy the camera from you to use it. You can try to sell it on the UHH.

The ‘cost’ of selling to a company is measured directly in dollars and cents. There is also a cost to selling it yourself - you are bearing the risk yourself.

Ditto to all the comments for MPB and KEH. Have sold and purchased from both. Top notch companies to deal with.
