Every shot is a prize position. The pan shots show just how good you are especially hand held with a lot of weight.
I was surprised how sharp the pictures are since you had a 2X extender on the lens.
Brilliant set.

Thank you Jim! The extenders are nothing more than very powerful magnifying glasses. The quality of the main lens as well as the maximum aperture will determine how well these 'magnifying glasses' assist. 2x on an f/2.8 lens is f/5.6, plenty of light for the camera's AF. Also, the 300 f/2.8L II is Canon's sharpest EF lens (or in the top 3 if people want to argue for others). I find the 300L to be much more hand-holdable vs the longer & larger lenses. Glad you enjoyed.

Great shots Paul.
Really like how you froze the planes and kept the props spinning.
Very impressive. The information in the captions also helps to add to the wow factor. Not just great images but a story to fill in the gaps.

Thank you Bill! Oshkosh is a major industry event, where for the most part, I was there just for the photography. Doing some research on the pilots and planes has made me more interested in both.

Thank you Tomfl101, Jerry, Dalek, Longshadow, nospambob, Gerry, Ken, Almostageezer, Kurt, Bob! This was my 2nd year to Oshkosh and I used some ideas on how early to get to the flightline and where to position myself. Glad you enjoyed the results.

On the opening Monday of the 7-day EAA AirVenture 2019, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) thanked local Oshkosh, Wisconsin residents for 50 years of support with free opening-day tickets. More than 8,700 of them attended, about 13% of the city’s population.

Thank you Bill! I've done the tent camping now for two consecutive years. Honestly, I'd never heard of the EAA event until the Spring 2018 and registering for my first visit. Things are probably both remarkably different and exactly the same in 30 years.

Great images! I am a pilot and long time EAA member. But have not made the Oshkosh trip yet. However, it is on my list.

However, I do make it to Sun n Fun down in Lakeland, Florida most years. Sun n Fun is not quite as large as Oshkosh but is still a great airshow with lots to see and photograph. It is usually in April so it is not too hot yet. Like Oshkosh, they have camping but if that is not for you there are lots of hotels around. Lakeland is located halfway between Tampa and Orlando so it is also a great destination for those in the family not aviation inclined.

I usually find the wife a shady spot to sit along with a cold drink and then I head to the flight line with the camera. Like Oshkosh, there are aircraft everywhere on the ground and in the air!
