You read that fake news on the web, right? and if it's on thew web it must be true. <sigh>
I just went to the http://www.photodex.com/proshow/producer site and it is still alive and doing well.

No fake news, take your money... yes, try to get support or talk to anyone. I’ve used their software for years. Not there!!

Thanks to all of you for your help. I worked with ProPhoto most of the day yesterday and it substantially speeded up the process compared to LR.

"I worked with ProPhoto most of the day yesterday and it substantially speeded up the process..." Excellent! One day I'm going to have to try that software. It always wins these discussions on UHH.

Not sure how you put your slide show together but if you use a collection then it's very easy to move images, you simply drag and drop.

Yes great point.
Collections give us the freedom of sort and order.

Phodex... Nobody’s Home, they are no longer...
Check out the info at this site...

And the software site...

If you don’t trust what I’m saying about Phodex & Proshow, just read the forums about them.
I’ve use Proshow Producer for years and love the program. But there is no support behind it any longer. No one is home.

I'm presenting an alternative for you if you don't find a slideshow program you like. Also, curious as what you did not like about the LR Slideshow Module as what you do sounds pretty straight forward. I do agree that it is very basic. If you are using the Adobe LR/PS package for photographers you also get access to a program called Spark. In your Cloud Adobe icon go to Social Media and then Spark. Launch Spark, there is no additional fee for its use. Click on the + sign at the top and a row of choices will come up. Pick the Web Pages. You can put any number of images and text into the web page you design. This page will be kept in the "cloud" and you can access it from anywhere for use. You can also download as a pdf, put into Facebook or an email if you want to. The software does not come with directions so to learn it you will need to simply poke around. I'm including a link here to show you a quick little page I put together. The options are endless. Storing it on the Adobe server is nice because then it does not matter how large your presentation gets, but of course you would need internet. Just a thought. https://spark.adobe.com/page/I9lPmgsfWs3Ob/. Also, if you use a Mac FotoMagico is for Macs and is a program with many more options than the Adobe LR software. You can ind this program on the web or at the Apple store.
I'm presenting an alternative for you if you don't... (show quote)

Thanks for the reply. My problem with LR is that making the slides go in the order I want to present them is difficult and requires more time then I want to spend playing games.

Sounds like a PEBKAC issue to me.

If you are using windows, try IrfanView. Its slideshow functions are pretty good and it is very easy to use. And it is Free. For Mac, try LibreOffice. It is a Microsoft office work alike, and its Presenter module is akin to Power Point. It is also free.

By which I think the OP means macOS 10.14.6. Which may also explain (to a degree) why PowerPoint (the obvious choice) is not the choice. A lot of Macs owners do not have PowerPoint.

LibreOffice presentation module is a PowerPoint work alike and is available for mac for FREE.
