Gene and Mark,

I downloaded the trial version and will look it over.

Thanks,

Bart

I did this video 30 mins after downloading ProShow. I had zero experience with it before the download.

I downloaded ProPhoto and have been working with it for about an hour. I have one question at this time. ProShow requires that you put your files on a timeline. For each photo or group of photos it requires that you specify how long you want the photo to be displayed. Since I do live narrations and allow interruptions for questions, I must be able to change slides on demand and keep each one on the screen as long as necessary. Is there a way to override the automatic progression function in ProPhoto? If that is not possible, I will need suggestions for another program. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. My problem with LR is that making the slides go in the order I want to present them is difficult and requires more time then I want to spend playing games.

Not sure how you put your slide show together but if you use a collection then it's very easy to move images, you simply drag and drop.

Did the OP write that he wanted to do a controlled presentation? Isn't that what Powerpoint and the like are for? Slideshows are like Gene's flower video. You watch it non stop, I think!

You can use ProShow to pause a slide show. Otherwise, use Powerpoint.

Although Lightroom is fantastic for editing my photographs, it is not efficient for taking the edited photographs and ordering them for a presentation. Furthermore, I am not happy with the Slideshow function in LR. Please suggest some inexpensive software that will allow me to order my photographs and present them to an audience on a large monitor.

You can sort and present slide show easily with Adobe Bridge.

With PowerPoint you need to import images into presentation slides, this is additional work and perhaps not the style he is looking for.

You might look at Photo Mechanic. I think there's a free trial.

Pro Show Gold or Pro Show Producer have gone out of business.
The replacement that is very similar is Photopia. They have two versions.
Photopia Creator Is a lot like Pro Show Gold but more powerful.

Don't forget PowerPoint. It is possible to make slide shows that are self running and have narration. You likely have this software. Video editing software can be used also.

Actually you just drag and drop in PowerPoint. It really does not get easier than that. However; the OP said...

By which I think the OP means macOS 10.14.6. Which may also explain (to a degree) why PowerPoint (the obvious choice) is not the choice. A lot of Macs owners do not have PowerPoint.

Thanks to all of you for your help. I worked with ProPhoto most of the day yesterday and it substantially speeded up the process compared to LR.
