Seem to be getting more and more (disrespectful people) (Page 2): No...nothing has changed....perhaps sensitivity has gone up even more...folks are caving to the emotions of others.

It looks like you've been around since 2011. There CAN'T be any more disrespectful people than there were back then. It used to be terrible.

Please don’t shoot yourself in the foot. One time way back when I just started, there was a nasty poster. I didn’t pay him much attention but he no pushed my buttons. I used the email feature. No success either. Then he went on to piss off one of the Admins. I believe they asked him to leave. It happens for the best!!!

I think that disrespectful people make up just as many of the newcomers as them as has been here forever.

I appreciate that. Yes! I checked the date of the first posting. I am quite surprised that a thread never fails to unravel.

I joined the forum at the insistence of a close photography friend. It took months of prodding on his part. The reason is I’m not fond of social media for a variety of reasons. Mostly, I’m reserved to myself and anti-social. LOL!

I do believe that the anonymity of this forum has a failing common to social media. We can write what we feel without repercussions. In spite of our differences we can disagree and bring to the table a discussion that improves us all.

PS: The person I spoke of earlier is an anesthesiologist that I have met at work. We do share many thoughts. Thank you to all and especially Linda From Maine.

Unfortunately, it seems to reflect what is going on in society in general these days. A decade ago, one could disagree with someone without insults, name-calling, or worse. Almost every day there are reports about someone on an airplane or in a mall or retail store causing problems because they felt wronged or disrespected in some manner.

It had already begun when COVID happened and that seemed to make it much worse. While overall, we have it pretty good in this country compared to many others, many people here in the US seem angry all the time. Maybe we have become spoiled and expect everything to be perfect all the time. Many no longer appreciate just being able to live and be happy.

People are quick to blame the pandemic. I didn’t wear a face mask the majority of the time. Considering that, I should have been infected but wasn’t. (Probably because I’m from another planet —— LOL) People in general will blame what ever comes to their mind. I am one one the last loyal readers of Robert Fulghum’s book, “All I Really needed to know, I learned in Kindergarten”. I do believe many of those who have forgotten and allowed it to collect dust on the shelf.

I missed that too.

It emphasizes the suggestion I made a while back that there should be a way to distinguish new and old threads, maybe by coloring thread titles red if they are more than 6 months old.
