I am fortunate to live on Long Island, which gives me access to the B&H store in Manhattan. I was recently interested in a Sigma 150-600 lens for my Canon EOS RP. I went to the store and the sales staff was extremely helpful. They connected a lens to an RP camera for me to try out. I had a question about mounting the camera and lens on my tripod their tripod sales staff showed me hoe to do it. I purchased the lens from B&H. You just do not get this kind of service anymore and a trip to B&H is certainly worth it.

I lived on Long Island until I retired in 2005. I was an 'in person' B&H customer from the time they were in a loft. I miss going into the city and visiting what truly is a Super Store.
Of course if I stayed on Long Island in retirement I couldn't afford all the new toys I acquired in the past 14 years. Now in Delaware the savings in sales and property tax alone has filled my camera / lens cabinet.
For many of us, life is a tradeoff.

Visiting the B&H facility in person is on my bucket list.
I love B&H so very much. It is a gem of a store and the staff are top notch. When you come to NYC let us know. I have a delightful itinerary which includes B&H. Bring extra memory cards. You will definitely need them. I can chat with you soon.
Happy Shooting!
I only bought from B&H once,(based on positive comments from this site) and it was not a good experience.
I realize that anyone can make a mistake, but I have been leery of buying from them again. I would always buy from a brick and mortar store if there was on anywhere near me.

Don't forget Adorama another camera store both are in the city.Very little difference.
B+H is great to visit. Need a camera bag, tripod, ballhead, etc., there is nothing better than going there to hold them in your hands. So much to see and feel!
PS make a day of it and take a walk on the Highline which has an entrance near the store.
The High Line is a 1.45-mile-long elevated linear park, greenway and rail trail created on a former New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan in New York City.
From a former East Rockaway boy.
Manhattan is a two hour train ride away for me so I am down there quite often for different reasons. I go to B & H at least three times a year, whether I need anything or not - it's amazing!

Me too, but first I need to visit New York City.
My first choice for new camera or computer equipment.

When you go, either take plenty of disposable income OR some serious determination “not to buy.” Temptation is overwhelming!

Yes, good things have been said about Adorama. There's also 42nd Street Photo, located in NYC. A place I'll avoid, if I ever get to the Big Apple. The word is out about them. As well as Abe's of Maine. Not good news.
That's what PayBoo is about!

For most photographers, being in B&H is like a kid in a candy store. While New York is a little too far for me, I do enjoy visiting Roberts Camera in Indianapolis. I would also believe that almost every store has the helpful staff that an on-line purchase doesn't give.
B&H is also too far for me but Hunt's Photo & Video is my second best option since I live only a few miles from Hunt's.
I purchased my new Nikon D750 from B&H online. Very satisfied!

You will lose your mind! The first time I went to the New York store I was looking for another battery for my Nikon. From the moment I stepped in, I completely forgot why I was there. I ended buying a rain cover and no battery...
Had a similar experience, I was like a kid in a toy store and purchased something small under $20.
