I am fortunate to live on Long Island, which gives me access to the B&H store in Manhattan. I was recently interested in a Sigma 150-600 lens for my Canon EOS RP. I went to the store and the sales staff was extremely helpful. They connected a lens to an RP camera for me to try out. I had a question about mounting the camera and lens on my tripod their tripod sales staff showed me hoe to do it. I purchased the lens from B&H. You just do not get this kind of service anymore and a trip to B&H is certainly worth it.

I am also a BIG B&H Camera fan. Never been to their store but you can always count on good service and getting helpful answers to any questions you may have. I highly recommend them!!!

I wonder if you can pay with PayBoo and B&H would pay the sales tax?

I’ve been to B&H a couple times, the last being over 10 years ago. My first impression was “too many choices!” Ha! Just a wonderful to browse and buy with plenty of help, if needed, in between.

I've been to New York State, but never have I been to the Big Apple. Buying from B&H from California, since 2009. I have the B&H App, and get email newsletters on online classes offered, and new camera Gear info, etc, from all name brands. In the 10 years buying from B&H, I only had one item improperly packaged for possible damage. I have bought 80% of my camera gear from B&H. I always got free expedited shipping on $49+ orders. And no sales tax, until recently. I'm willing to pay sales tax on future items now. I have received good service from KEH as well, on used lenses, for two friends. I hear the B&H Store in NYC is amazing. Maybe I'll get there one day. Another thing I like about B&H, is that if you call before a certain weekday time of day. They will ship that very day.

It is a bit of a trip from Los Angeles, and even a good distance from Buffalo (where my parents were from and the only place in NY State that I have been to), but I have mail ordered from B&H several times. Once you get used to the religious holiday schedule they are pretty nice to deal with. I've bought photo and electronic equipment from them, and photo supplies. Even in L.A. and Hollywood these days there are very few brick and mortar walk-in camera shops. For me right now, only Powell's in Covina and Sammy's in Pasadena. I usually have to settle for doing a lot of reading to decide on a purchase.

You will lose your mind! The first time I went to the New York store I was looking for another battery for my Nikon. From the moment I stepped in, I completely forgot why I was there. I ended buying a rain cover and no battery...

For most photographers, being in B&H is like a kid in a candy store. While New York is a little too far for me, I do enjoy visiting Roberts Camera in Indianapolis. I would also believe that almost every store has the helpful staff that an on-line purchase doesn't give.

Hershel, a UHH member, gave a guided tour to a friend and I a few years back. Henry even came out of his dark little cave to say Hi!
Great place, great people, and Hershel loves an excuse to get out of his office for a bit. If you ever get a chance to go there, contact Hershel to see if he is available. Great guy, but don't tell him I told you!

B&H has to obey Supreme Court Decision, that all sales taxes have to be included in online purchases. Actually, in California, you were to put the amount of online purchases on your State Income Tax Form, and pay those taxes, even before the Supreme Court Decision. Many did not comply, and it was not enforceable then. Now, it is. B&H has a promotion, that if you make periodic purchases, they will pay your sales taxes. If, your State has a high sales tax rate, like 8-10%. You may want to have an account to B&H's, I'll pay your sales tax plan. I think it is called PayBoo? A business promotion it is only. That's all.
