I have mobility issues although, I push myself daily and am up to most of a mile a day. I do have to use a cane. Due to health issues, I can't drive right now and, I don't have a vehicle.
We do have a municipal park, but it is more of a picnic spot and really isn't scenic.

My Dr. Has told me that most likely I'll be able to drive by Summer of 2020. While I'm happy about that, I hate car shopping. I'm not complaining, mind you, I just miss using my camera. I do thank God for the blessings I do have. Now, I just need to find a local Church that is like the one that I went to as a youngster. I think it's gonna be hard to find.

Anyway, I apologize for rambling on.

Bob,
I'm sorry to hear about your challenges however, besides all the suggestions you got, I would also look for a photo club in your local area and get to know the people using the wonders of the internet and soon you will be able to share the challenges you face and I'm sure someone will offer to take you for a photo shoot. As far as the church goes, yes I definitely would look for one - most of them in our days have support groups and rides to and from the services you can use and rely on. Gob Bless you my friend, keep your chin up and keep on keeping on. Cheers!

Bob - beat wishes and prayers for you as you continue to recover. Every step in the right direction is a positive. Perhaps visit the local park and start reusing your camera skills. I also understand the need to find the right church, and I'm sure you will.

Try some Post Processing of photos you already have; use your imagination and make some composites.

Bob, there are many of us who are infirm in one way or another. And some who are in a worse condition, i.e., blind. I have been hampered with having to use a walker because my sense of balance, now, is sporadic at best.

You have been offered several good ideas. I think you should set up a table top studio for yourself. Many Youtube videos for that to help you on the hows. It may surprise you as to how many objects you have to "model" for you. There is one catch. You will have to do it. And you will have to start now.

When you are able, plan day road trips with the assistance of someone that can go with you. Involve them in the planning. Take a map and plan a route that will take you in a circle, noting town centers and potential points of interests. Have your assistant equipped to take shots along with you, maybe as a contest. My wife and I have done routes involving antique stores along the way. My wife is a "cell phone" photographer who enjoys going through the jewelry items. So hold on tight to your purse strings. (Be sure to get an OK inside the stores.)

There are many murals that can be photographed without leaving the car.

I can continue on with a list of suggestions. However, you need to get creative on your own. You will have to get yourself involved in the process. This will go a long way to address your sense of depression.

One thing I will not say to you is "Good luck". We all are in charge of creating our luck, good or bad.

" If the world gives you lemons, just say 'no, thanks'. And go to the store and buy your favorite drink."

You are not rambling! You are expressing yourself, which is wonderful! Keep thinking good thoughts! And good luck!

Bob, I'm a Bob also and I also share your mobility problems. Mine is from peripheral neuropathy. Let myself get into a "Oh woe is me!" chasm. I'm working my way out by looking head, not to what I want to do but rather what I'm going to do! Just a change in intention is what has helped me - maybe the same can help you. Good Luck

Bob, I know Indiana can be a challenge to photograph in November. I am a care giver to my wife and her mother, who at 88 gets around better than my wife. Call your local animal shelters and other non- profits to see if they have need for photography. The Indianapolis zoo is a fun place if you can get a couple people together and make the trip. As many have said before,"hang in there"

Rambling on is a good way to clear the mind and elevate the spirit.

I'm sorry for the difficulty you're going through, but I have to disagree that you don't have access to things worth photographing. The potential for a great photograph can be found almost anywhere if you have the eye and the imagination to recognize it and the skill to capture it.

This reminded me of a rework of an adage. You don't even have to be a Zen Buddhist.

"Don't do something, just sit there!"

Assignment: Take a chair and place it in the middle of your living room, sit down with camera in hand, and photograph what you spot around you.

I guess it all depends what you consider worth photographing? I see everywhere where people travel to exotic places to get snow leopards or grand scenes etc but anyone with the right equipment and time and access can get cool pictures of exotic animals or majestic falls. I like to see what cool shots I can get in my own back yard or neighborhood. I find that much more rewarding and personal. The other day a friend showed my some nice shots he got of lions on a safari. That bored me to tears. Anyone with a 600 f 4 lens and good camera can get those shots. Let's see what you can get right there in your back yard.

Is there a senior center near you? Or an over 50 community? Near here there's one that takes bus trips. They go to NYC and DC. You could maybe take a bus or taxi or Uber to the center where the trip takes off.

I've always heard this quote attributed to the actress Bette Davis;
"Growing old isn't for wimps".
There are many suggestions here so you've got some new ideas. You might want to consider doing "self assignments" that you make before going to your park or wherever. Use a particular lens, or camera setting, objects in the park or people, or.....
You can put as much time into the planning and practicing for each assignment as required to keep you focused on where you've decided to go next time out.
Best of luck and have fun

Rick
