It's the correct section. It's chit chat. They aren't posting their own pics, they're chit chatting about tiny birds!! Lighten up.

falcnheart7,
I believe you're a little late to the "party". This Topic was originally posted in the Main Photography Discussion section. Somewhere along the way, it was moved to the General Chit-Chat section. Evidently, such transfers are not overtly noted when done. Thus, you may want to consider lightening up on your "lighten up" advisory if that was, in fact, your motivation for posting your suggestion.

Yep, it's a paper cut out.

I found an article about the history of this image. Two artists in India made the paper bird and the ceramic branch and posted it on line to show off their bird miniature skills with a correct description of the bird and where it is found. I think this was Oct 2017. It has been shared and passed on thousands of times but from the site of someone who copied the picture and posted it with the "smallest bird" caption and story. This seems to have happened in France.
It has been deceiving a lot of people ever since.

Understood. It showed up in the chit chat feed with mo notation that it was moved from discussion. But really, what difference does it make, chit chat, discussion. They're just talking about the little birdie. Who cares where ....

Main Discussion Forum is one of the original 4 or 5 sections of UHH (there are over 30 now: most volunteer-moderated, specialized as to content, and invisible to new users because you must specifically subscribe to any of interest).

Main discussion is where you talk about gear (cameras, lenses, tripods), exposure (what settings or shooting mode is best for xyz), software and editing*, advice for what gear to take on trips, on rare occasion questions about composition and light, and the always-popular jpg vs. raw.

*there has been a Post Processing section on UHH since late 2013, but the small and less active forums get far less traffic than main discussion and photo gallery.

Though there is some overlap with sections, I'm pretty sure that most UHH members like to have some order (fulfilling expectations of what they will find), rather than total chaos and randomness

So the small and less active forums get far less traffic than main discussion and photo gallery.

Sigh....perhaps you should read an entire thread before commenting. Often, discussion clarifies a previous posting, making your own reaction unnecessary or irrelevant.

Where is Rongy when we need him? He used to post screenprints of where a topic was residing at the moment he complained about its not being in the right place. Proof for the disbelievers

The topic was originally posted in Main Discussion Forum and Admin moved it to Chit-Chat a few hours later. Ref my comment that you should read the entire thread prior to commenting, user lev29 explained this on page 2 after falcnheart7 had a similar reaction as yours:

Get a grip. Your shouting is making you look silly.

Looks like the 2nd Hog to go down the false path of indignation in this thread.

In this particular case, the thread is short (in my humble opinion,) and easy to review quickly. But for me, at least, once a topic exceeds 5 or 6 pages, it becomes what I term, for purposes of posting certain questions/answers/remarks, as being "too long to review it all." So on occasion, yes ma'am, I confess I did not read the entire thread: mea culpa!

Yes, some comments posted for lack of reviewing a thread either in its entirety (or just the parts that I happen to have read,) do irk me, so at least sometimes, I try to adopt a tone of "perhaps you weren’t aware ..."

Which brings me to my question (and you’ll have to forgive me if this has been posted before, right?), why can’t Wrongo's idea or suitable facsimile thereof be implemented as to what section a Topic is in from post to post?

(By the way, thanks for crediting me in your reply to 14kphotog. )

Yes, really! If we're going to be indignant, at least it should be over something TRUE!!!!! 😁

You could send a pm to site owner/admin and request. User name is ADMIN. Of course, the instances of people complaining about other people complaining about incorrect topic placement are probably fairly rare.

As for your responses to two of my lines, I can’t argue with you there!

on the Psychology of ... NOT reviewing an entire thread or knowing the Forum’s rules on which topics should be posted in what section?

Egads, you and Wrongo could probably run a clinic on this and I'd be an occasional patient ... and/or maybe a therapist?
