To all those who have replied to my Q about Photostick thank you, even those who have made snide remarks, and to the person who said I was stupid to Format, read my post, as this was done on instructions from Photostick,
It look like i will just have to lump it, and put it down to a unfortunate experiance,

Have a good day from New Zealand,, Colin,

This is the answer to your Photostick problem.
My photo sick ran but did not save any photos so I Googled their site and clicked on support. They told me to format the stick as you did and they emailed their The“Photostick reset tool.exe” I ran it and followed the installation instructions. After that my Photostick ran smoothly and copied my photos.
They advantage of the stick is that it seeks out all the photos that have been buried here and there through the years and forgotten. After that you can copy the photos to other flashdrives and give them as memory gifts to family and friends. Don’t give up on it, they do work.

Looks to me like you failed to read all of the conversation pertinent to the OP'S photo stick complaint and my response. The OP is from New Zealand. The product he's having a problem with is not from NZ, it's from the USA, or at least purchased from a USA based distributor. The OP expressed his disappointment with the USA when it should be with the company. I can understand partially why the OP expressed frustration in this manner. He is from a relatively small country, about twice the area of Pennsylvania, with a small population, less than half of Pennsylvania or just under 6 million people. He was expressing his feeling in more of a local manner than a global manner. If you read even closer, it looks like the OP may have caused problems by formatting the thumb drive with the software on it.
Maybe you should read more of the actual conversation before chiming in without knowing of what you speak.

I read the conversation, thank you. Twice. A bunch of confused rambling.

Did you happen to save the “Photostick reset tool.exe” that you can share with the Original Poster? That would solve his issue.

If he shares the tool and it works then it's possible with that tool you can turn any USB thumb drive into a photostick and save a bundle. I think it would work and that is why they don't simply post it on their website but rather only email to those who has problem after buying their sticks.

Yes, I was thinking the same. It is probably a simple program that searches on a specified drive for any extensions that would indicate an image file. The "simple" though faulty way of "checking" for duplicates would be to just not over-write any files on the destination drive (i.e. the USB thumb drive) during the copy process. This, of course, would only check for duplicate file names and not duplicated images.

I went to photostick.elite.gadget.reviews from Google and learned that Photostick is a USB device that automatically transfers your files after you select the backup option. So the device must have ‘driver’ code on its front side and a directory space. If you reformat it you can lose that code if it is not ROM. Can you recall everything you did or let the computer do. To see if you or your stuff broke it. It is a flash drive and should work like one.

Oh oh, the .exe part means the reset tool is for Windows computers only. Mac folks excluded.

If you formatted the "stick," that would eliminate the program. The program should actually be pretty simple, since all it does is locate photo files on your computer and copy them to the photostick. You can do it yourself by running a search for different photo formats on your computer. Search .jpg or *.jpg for example, then select all and copy to the photostick, which is really just a flash drive. Might be time consuming. Be sure the photostick is good by copying a few pics to it and then opening them with your photo program.

I have had mine over a year. It is too late to send it back. My problem is the same, except that .i am working with an IOS mobile device to save photos to create more space for other apps. After the lengthy process of backing up files, it appeared to only have saved videos. Yesterday, when I looked to see what it saved, there were a bunch of squares with question marks in them. I need a link to their site which has the link to the support area please. Thank you.

I bought a Photostick disk and it seemed to do what it advertised.locating every photo on my computer and saving them to the Photostick. That's all the function advertised.

With thousands of photos on a computer the Photostick is just a start on a huge editing project.

As a test,I moved several images from the Photodisk to a file folder on my Mac, then took the folder into Adobe Bridge. Suddenly I had all the the selected images on my screen.

It would be a horrendous editing project to go through all the images on the Photostick, but it does seem to do what is advertised, finding and saving every photo on one's computer.

I am not sureI would spend the money for more disks, but in my case, it does seem to work as advertised.

Ok why would I only see videos on the photo stick when as I watched some of the backup process, it looked as though jpeg pictures were saved?many said “image.” NOTE I was backing up pictures from my IPad.
