Which one? time to upgrade I think....not getting the print results I need, using a Pantone Huey 101... I know some of you are use the following...

I'm looking at the ColorMunki by X-Rite $ 446 , by Pantone(Color Munki Design) $412 or Spyder 3 for $377.

Barring monies, pros,cons?

Thanks

Can you elaborate as to why you like one over the other? Thank you for your time.

it calibrates for proper color like it was designed for. works great on laptops and lcd...and even the old crt, if you have one of those.
the huey never even got close.

i use a lot of laptops on the go.....and the spyder is great!!!

never used the color munki...but i am sure it's good also.

sure wish the huey worked...it was at a great price!!! sure wasted my money on that one.

Just a note: I was looking at these online and see B&H has the Spyder 4 for around $249. They say the Spyder 3 has been discontinued. Just thought I would share that. Good luck!

Worthless?? I use it on my Eizo, my screen to print is spot on. I have no issues with it, been using it since December '12. Don't know about customer service,,never had to use it.

here...you can rent either or both systems pretty cheaply to see which one works best for you before you lay down the bucks......and they have a used spyder for sale for $275

Thank you all for you input, with the mixed replies, I may just have to rent each one and see which works best for me with my monitors and printers. Thanks again.

If you are just doing monitors and not printers or scanners: Here is a direct copy from imagesciense.com

In terms of monitor only calibrators, as of August 2011 there is a pretty clear cut choice in this area. The new i1Display Pro represents a major leap forward in monitor calibrator accuracy and is the first really interesting development in this area in years. We strongly recommend this calibrator to ALL image makers. The accuracy of this device has been independently tested and found to be an order of magnitude ahead of older calibrators (such as the Eye One Display 1 & 2 and Spyders 1, 2 & 3). It has been specifically designed to cope with modern monitors - such as those with LED backlighting (like iMacs/Cinema Displays) and Wide Gamut screens (these days, most monitors). Data from NEC's magnificent PA monitors was used in the development of these calibrators so this combination should offer superb accuracy.

I purchased one and it is amazing.

If you choose to only purchase a monitor calibrator software and don't wish to spend the additional bucks on the software versions of calibrators to get print matching software,
There is a company that does ICC printer profiles, Dry Creek Photo, so I have included the link to their home page which contains a wealth of information about monitor and printer calibrations. Their website provides in depth instruction on how to use color calibration for monitors but also printer profiles
