Well Mr. Graybeard you can't just demand that math and science don't apply, when using my old Canon 50D 15mp camera I could get a lot more images on a card than when I use my 50mp full frame.
But to be helpful, all you have to do is look at the file size of the jpegs that your camera is creating, let's say for example 10mp then divide that into 1000 and you would get something like 100 per gigabyte.
Big cards are cheap - my primary is a 64, secondary 32 and I carry a few spares. Why worry when spares are small, light, and inexpensive. Swapping out a card probably takes less than a minute.

It depends . . . Sorry, if you don't want a correct answer don't ask. And if you want an "accurate" number you'll need to provide more information than "I shoot Canon JPEG at it's best resolution." Which camera? Clearly an old Canon 2mp point and shoot will make considerably smaller images than a Canon 5DSR at 50.6 mp.
If you want an estimate, look in your camera manual.
Jpegs can vary in size based on number of megapixel, image content and compression (quality) selected. What is the purpose of your question? Are you trying to figure out how many pictures you can cram on a card?

You asked too many questions. When someone posted a question on the UHH you are supposed to give answer and not asking questions to the OP.

Can't give you numbers if you don't clarify at what resolution and file size you're shooting with!
That seems to be the unwritten rule around here. If you ask the OP question you are accused of being rude to the OP.

Hmmmm. I am wondering who is writing the rules, I do believe that we should be polite in the photography forums but I am not so sure that this thread started out that way with the original op.
The OP said, "
Don't tell me it depends. Give me a number. The correct answer is 411, the universal number for information.

If that is not satisfying, perhaps 211 will help.
I gave the correct number in the fifth post after the OP confirmed what camera it was. The OP said thank you. Paul confirmed if with a screen shot from the users manual.

And Canon confirmed in their text ... {It depends} on a number of variables.
