Beautiful shots! I had no idea there were so many castles there. Thanks for sharing.

They seemed to sprout-up all over ... not that I was complaining. It was a really great trip, even without Air Conditioning.

So glad to have influenced you to take the trip - wonderful, wasn't it? Castles are all over the place - you can't go more than a few miles without running into one - the country just oozes history! I've bagged 15 of them so far and hope to explore a few more soon - we leave for our next visit in 8 days.

Best of luck, Sue. The skies were threatening EVERY morning when I awoke. Luckily, most of the rain I saw hit the bus windshield. Safe journey there and back.

Thanks for sharing your lovely photos of Scotland. It is not only members on your side of the water that haven't been to Scotland. It is on my "Bucket List" one day.

Midges still swarming for another month, I'm told. Skin So Soft worked like a charm.

The first three days will be spent in Oban - the current weather forecast is for a solid week of rain up to and including our first day there! Rain = Scottish sunshine!!

It just so happens that my wife and I arrived in Cumbria a few days ago for an 8 week vacation. We are approximately 30 miles from the Scottish border. In the past, we've covered much of the southern part of the Scotland just by driving a rental car all over the place. We have talked about going much farther north, but I'm not sure I want to brave any potentially stormy weather in a car that I'm driving. Where does your bus tour start from? We've seen some that begin in Inverness and go way up north and last for 3 days. We've seen some castles (Edinburgh and Stirling) on our day trips, and while we would like to see more of them, anything with scenery would be very nice if the weather cooperates. A link to a tour bus company that you trust would be appreciated.

I have to say to the OP that the pictures are very well done. Thank you.

Sorry for jumping in but until you get a reply, I would suggest that you ask the locals as they are always willing to help or ask the locals where is there the Tourist Information Centre. They will be able to tell you of the times of the boat crossings to get you to the other islands with accommodation if required etc. I think (no experience though) that this time of the year unless there is a storm you should be OK. Storms will be well advertised, so don't worry. Do please let us know how you get on and I am looking forward to some photos and do enjoy yourself.

UHH member SueScott often travels to Scotland and has shared several of her images with us, inspiring me to go myself. What was unexpected by me was that, in Scotland, I would see nearly as many ancient castles on a bus trip around Scotland this month as I had seen on a cruise up the Rhine in Germany back in June.
As this is not a subject that we can often see here in America, I thought that some other Hogs might like to have a look.

Love this set. Would love to go to Scotland myself.
