Surprising Scotland

UHH member SueScott often travels to Scotland and has shared several of her images with us, inspiring me to go myself. What was unexpected by me was that, in Scotland, I would see nearly as many ancient castles on a bus trip around Scotland this month as I had seen on a cruise up the Rhine in Germany back in June.
As this is not a subject that we can often see here in America, I thought that some other Hogs might like to have a look.

So glad to have influenced you to take the trip - wonderful, wasn't it? Castles are all over the place - you can't go more than a few miles without running into one - the country just oozes history! I've bagged 15 of them so far and hope to explore a few more soon - we leave for our next visit in 8 days.

Thanks for sharing your lovely photos of Scotland. It is not only members on your side of the water that haven't been to Scotland. It is on my "Bucket List" one day.

If you go to Scotland, even if you don't drink, don't miss the Whisky Trail. Lots to photograph.

Went to Wick for a tour and whiskey tasting at Old Pulteney Distillery. Cleared my sinuses.
