I don’t understand your concern. Read or watch whatever political commentary you chose, and ignore what is offensive. The same thing applies to one’s selection of FOX, CNN, Washington Post— whatever source of information or misinformation one finds most comfortable or feeds their personal biases.
It is a free country—still.
Those who contribute to the Attic should curtail the insults, personal attacks, and name calling; but that SHOULD be a given. No one can control the mindset of those who engage.

I thoroughly enjoy being a Ugly Hedge Hogger. Recently some events in the news concerned my family and myself. I decided to post a commentary. It was only a suggestion. Ooops! I was sent to The Attic. I didn't realize there was specific criteria for being sent there. Well, I read the e-mail from the Administrator. I was surprised but I complied. My diatribe was not intended to spark a political debate. But the Administrator here (whomever they are) must have some control from a 50 word post or thought becoming a 50 page thread.
So I guess I'll stick to learning how to be a photographer, posting my photos, enjoying others and perhaps laughing at a few jokes that are posted.
Happy Shooting!

I think the attic is a great section because it lets those who want to, rant and rave on without my having to read their offerings.

I agree with Dave, who cares. It serves two purposes: First it lets people who have no one to talk to express their feelings to a live audience. I've been there a couple of times and it's really a lonely feeling. Second it allows a place for mean spirited people to meet with other mean spirited people and be mean without bothering us.

I agree with you 100%. I think a lot of what is said is just garbage, but there is some good stuff. Will the attic change anyone's mind? NO, it won't.

I have almost 2000 books and magazines on my e-reader and in my archive files. This can keep me entertained a long time.
Then there are the 1000+ music CDs between my collection and our oldest son's.
And the several hundred movies and TV shows on DVD around the house.

Radical solution, visit a friend or meet at a nice coffee shop and talk

Or, now hold onto your chair-this is an even more radical idea: Go out and do some photography!
Try reading a good book. br I have almost 2000 boo... (show quote)

Got a macro lens? That and a table plus some little things that would make an interesting image will let you do photography while hugging your AC.

LOL.... rereading Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp series, still enjoyable the second time around... Don't know about the ghost author who picked up the series after Flynn passed but Flynn was an incredible novelist.

I only have about 200 books on my computer but have read most of them.

Got my first e-reader about 2002 or 2003, I now own 3 of different models (one got dropped and was replaced with the same model so 4 total) An Android tablet with Nook reading app and the Nook app on this computer. I have 107 books and 66 magazines in the active library, some are references I keep there, aprx 900 books and 600 magazines in my B&N Nook cloud archives. things go to the archive only after I have read them. When I got that first e-reader my wife said "Now clean out all of these books." I donated 55 cases of hard backs and about 10 of paper backs to the Friends of the Library store. Previously in about 3 donations I had donated about 20 more cases. My old magazines had been recycled - at one time I subscribed to 14, some were quarterly magazines, most monthly and one weekly news magazine. I still have about 300 books on shelves.

A short while ago, posted a comment. Oops. I violated the rules. So the Administrator "dragged" me up the stairs kicking all the way. At first I was surprised and wanted to continue my discussion. Then I had a thought. I was given a warning. I'm an obedient soul and heeded the warning.

So let's post something different.

Never been to the attic, is it like visiting the funny farm?

Come to think of it...that's a pretty good analogy.
