I've been there many times. Truly spectacular, with literally thousands of photo ops. Sedona will rival any national park for photo ops. Pick up a good book on Sedona hikes. I recommend "Great Sedona Hikes" by Bohan and Butler. That will give you an idea of the scenery available in different areas. At this time of the year it will be very hot. Plan to get out very early, then go to the pool in the afternoon. Be sure to go out again for sunset pictures. Four wheel drive is useful. Take lots of water. Cathedral Rock is a must. Little Horse trail is very good. Fay Canyon trail is very good. Sunset photos are excellent at Red Rock Crossing (Crescent Moon fee area) and also on Airport Road. Boynton Canyon is very good. Too many to mention!

I have a suggestion: take a warm jacket. The minute the sun sets, the temperature drops dramatically. If you’re sitting outside having drinks and dinner, watching the sunset, you’ll appreciate a wrap. That’s what I remember from the last time I was in Sedona.

Don't know if it is still there, but when my family used to visit back east, we would stop in Jerome for the best spice donuts. That was back in the 1960's and 70's. At that time Jerome had only a few stores open. From their web side they are more tourist oriented now.

So far I don't think anyone has mentioned Slide Rock State Park, about 6 miles up Oak Creek Canyon toward Flagstaff. It has a good sized arch (Indian Head) south west of the parking lot a couple of hundred yards, trail goes right up to it. North of parking is the slide rocks; if there is water running on rock it is as slick as melting ice. The chutes and channels the water follows are worth taking shorts or a bathing suit. Kind of like a wet roller coaster.

These questions come up all the time and I find it hard to give an answer as I do not have a clue what they are looking for in a shoot. What I find photo worthy you may not.

These topics are started with no indication what they like to shoot. Some state they are looking for unique places but if I gave these locations out they would not be unique because they were shot before.

Want really unique images then do your own research and exploring on your own to find some unique places. Google maps will let you view everything from the air in which to find those locations. It will be much more rewarding to find them on your own...

Castle Rock. There are roads and hiking trails that go around Castle Rock. I also recommend the Sedona Range. A great view from across the highway - the overlook from near the airport.
