Hi Patty. Would love to see your photos, please post when you can. Thanks
Tom
Tom, I posted a couple pictures in the "sports photography" section, this afternoon. Maybe they'll be on the site, tomorrow.

I shoot auto racing in the summer and also some women's college softball. Get to do some little kids softball when my granddaughter plays.

I love auto racing, I grew up going to races almost every Friday and Saturday night. Women's softball isn't appreciated enough. I watch them play as much as I can. Please post as much as you can racing, women softball, and especially granddaughters games. Thanks

Please post as many photos as you can. The more we all post the more critiques we will have. I always learn a ton from the HOGS critiquing others photos. Lets all have fun this year. Let the games begin!!! Thank
Tom
I love sports. Have posted some in the past to check out. I may repost some.

I’m an enthusiastic sports shooter although just a newbie. I enjoy following you guys and have learned a great deal over the past 2 years. Thanks! I particularly enjoy the postings which I strive to emulate. I shoot HS football, track, basketball, volleyball and baseball. Mostly my grandkids. I submitted some of my shots to MaxPreps but did not make the cut. I intend to keep practicing and hope to submit again. I also enjoy shooting surfing competitions at the Jersey shore. Paul

Hi pnittoly. Don't give up on MaxPreps. It took me three try's to get accepted. They are strict on what they accept for photos. That is why they are the premier high school website. Listen to what Jim and Todd tell you and practice, practice, practice. Also post on here as much as you can, looking forward too seeing your photos. There are some people on the HOG that are really helpful with photography. Go have fun shooting grandkids. Thanks

Hi a quick question, I know there are some sports shooters out on the HOG. PaulR01 had mentioned that he didn't think the HOG was a big sport site. My question is are there very many sport people on here? If you could please give a shout out and let me know if you are and would post. Thanks for your time.
Tom
Hi Tom: You know I do and have been shooting for over 50 years. Yes I am an old guy.
I love the challenge in shooting each game, always looking for the cover shot. The one that says oh wow, how did he do that? You should be the ambassador of the sports page, you do a good job. Good luck in the upcoming season.

NICE shot, but yours always are. I think we sports photographers are always in the pursuit of "THE SHOT" like you said "THE COVER SHOT". I am still after it. Someday hopefully it will happen. We are both getting old my friend. Thanks.

Hi
Have not been able to post since June due to the camera accident (drop). Should hopefully be coming back soon from Nikon (waiting for a part).
That said, I had a lot of fun, just before that, working on blurring shots of runners (think panning of race cars but slowed down to about 12 miles per hour. Trying to capture the sensation of speed.
I also built, as a way to force myself to work on skills (Thank you to Thomas for the push) a large framed collage of my favorite CC runner from this last year (whom was named the VT CC athlete of the year!). Made me really work on my skills moving processing RAWS instead of jpegs and getting to know ON1. She just about cried when I surprised her with it. (As a funny aside, her Mom knew what I was doing as I had asked her permission to print out shots of the runner before I did the project - did not need anyone asking why I was making prints of an 18 yo girl whom was not a relative!!!!)
New CC season starts in a few weeks, which means meets every weekend from Labor Day to Thanksgiving! HS Bball in winter I think this year, and T&F again in spring. My goal this year is to try different perspectives than before to see if I can improve on the feeling of the game/sport/play.
Tom - thanks for the kind words and inspiration. I never have posted on UHH but will give it a try if someone explains how to do so !
Jules - That football shot is absolutely awesome. Tack sharp. Can even see the scruff marks on the ball. Can’t wait until football season to get out there and practice...regards, Paul
