Hi a quick question, I know there are some sports shooters out on the HOG. PaulR01 had mentioned that he didn't think the HOG was a big sport site. My question is are there very many sport people on here? If you could please give a shout out and let me know if you are and would post. Thanks for your time.

Hi Tom. I love shooting sports, but rarely get the opportunity. I might get to shoot some volleyball this fall, and baseball in the spring, for sure. Baseball is my favorite!

Count me in as a collector, hunter of all types of birds and mammals and a few reptiles and a shooter of numerous firearms.

Patty I am proud of you. Personally I find hitting a volleyball much easier than hitting a baseball out of the air. It can be done though. I say all of this of course with tongue firmly in cheek.

Will do, Tom! I'll look up some older ones that I've already taken, just for fun. They're not great photos, but I love sports!

It doesn't matter how long you have been shooting. We all learn something new everyday. There is a lot to learn shooting photos. I have been shooting well 7 maybe 8 years and still don't get it all right. But I am working on it all the time. Also shooting sports is really a challenge because of the speed and the amount of people that are on the fields at one time. You can ask any of the people on the HOG that shoot sports and I think they will tell you the same thing. When you post please don't let the critiques of your photos chase you away. That is why we post here to get help and praise but mostly the help. Well please do post some of your work for all of use to enjoy and maybe help if needed. I can tell you the HOG has been a really big help to me. Thanks go get um.

Thank you for your encouraging words, Tom! I appreciate it! I, too, have learned a LOT from this site!! Every morning, I read through the articles and drink my morning coffee....a great way to begin my day! My sports photos are on an external hard drive; I'll go find a couple to post.

Tom I've migrated from organized sport to fitness narratives....
Mahatma Gandhi: "be the change you wish to see in the world..."

Living in a society with a serious obesity epidemic spiraling out of control has convinced me that "Spectator" sports are at best counter productive...

So as to contribute positively to your post...
If you are serious about Sports Photography I would suggest you get off of UHH and signup for http://www.sportsshooter.com/ membership is only $25 per year...

Hope this helps or is at least food for thought...
I wish you well on your journey Tom

Of course. Besides when I tried to shoot golf balls out of the air all of the people practicing their drives got all uppity at me hitting their balls. The nerve of them.

Sorry to hear that. Growing up my family would go to the races almost every Friday and Saturday nights. I really miss that. You could smell the hamburgers, fries, and bbq from the parking lot. I can still smell it now!! Thanks Richard.

I am serious about my sport photography. I shoot for MaxPreps.com The Premier online website in the country for High School sports. I also do freelance photography. Right now I am shooting City parks for the city of Shawnee Kansas. They are wanting new photos for each parks website. Thanks for the well wishes I appreciate it. And the same for you on your journey through life.
