I would think of the RX100xxx (pocket) and the X-T30 compact MILC, as two different "classes" of camera, designed for two different purposes.

If Sony drops the price of the RX100VI once the VII hits the market, that just might be the hot ticket. If the price is right, I could be tempted.

I doubt it's aimed at people like you. I think it's aimed at those who have no intention of purchasing a DSLR, or already own one but require a smaller but versatile camera for holidays etc.

Sony has really missed the boat on the RX series. One of my big grips is the lack of a HOT SHOE. The camera cost $1200.00 with no hot shoe. The Sony RX100 II is still the only RX100 with a hot shoe.
Not really much different besides the speed from the RX100VI. IMHO
I will say Sony is very good at marketing.

I’m not aware of any shirt-pocket camera with the versatility and excellence of the Sony RX100 series. I used the first RX100 for a year or so until I left it in a taxi, then an Rx100 II until now, always with great results, including enlargements to 13x19 with the help of perfect resize. Now I plan to get the Rx100 VII for its longer reach and all the other improvements since the II.
Yes, I still use my 5D III & IV for serious work, but the convenience of the RX series is unbeatable at its size.

There are major differences between the II and VI one being the focal length 28-100mm vs 24-200mm.

"Blazing fast" is relative - and over-used. Sony has introduced a new model every year, with the price almost doubling since its introduction. If you want a previous version, the prices are considerably lower than you would have paid when they were introduced.
I - $650 - $368 now
II - $750
III - $800 - $598 now
IV - $1,000 - $650 now
V - $900 - $840 now
VI - $1,200 - still same price
VII - $1,200

No one ever regrets quality. Not many owners of RX 100 series ever regret buying these little marvels.

I was talking about the differences between the VI and VII being minimal. Sony puts just a few improvements for each model. Just enough to create GAS, but little difference in image quality. And my 28-100 is 1.8.
