AS I already indicated, Richard - I suspect, when you GO TO the Canon USA site - you are automatically redirected to the ENGLISH version of the JAPANESE site - since you are so much closer to THAT ONE - there, in Sydney. And, I don't think you would have ANY WAY - of knowing, either ….

The Canon website product names are in USA terms (like Rebel T3i), not in UK or Australian terms (like EOS 600D).
Distance doesn't matter in the internet world, if you have a decent connection.

Well, obviously, Richard - if the site you can get to where you are, in Oz - is an exact duplicate of the USA site - they WILL use the exact same model numbers, and nomenclature …

And, I DO have a decent Internet Connection … which doesn't cost me a red cent, either ….

Here is the Canon UK site for the user manuals.
You will need to know the non American camera designations (like the SL3 is a EOS 250D)

https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/product_ranges/cameras/eos/

How come you have trouble getting onto sites like Digital Photography Review, or the MS Store if you have a decent internet connection?
I don't.

You are citing two, which in addition - to CanonUSA - makes THREE, Richard - which leaves ALL the rest of the NET - accessible to me. Unlike you, Richard - I prefer to believe - the problems lie with THOSE sites. Don't YOU think - that's a more reasonable explanation?

You are as entitled to your belief, Richard - as I am, to mine …

DPR is an absolutely useless site, anyway. I do regret, however, not seeming to have access to the others.

The problem with MS Store, though - I suspect - is in some way - related to not having completed Updates.

How can you make a judgment on a site (DPR) that you can't get to?

I think it is a good resource.

Sure, it's a good resource - for those who want to compare numbers - if that's your ilk …

I was there, once - after a fresh reboot, and leaving the tab for the link open - for three consecutive days.

I , therefore, hold to the theorem - it is an extremely difficult site to get to, possibly because of parameters.

I have tried, just now, once again - to get to MS Store. It didn't go. Am trying to get to the feedback Hub, now, as I write this …

Paul - Canon Speedlites go up from that $170 270 EX II, to the $299 430EX III-RT to the $399 470EX AI to the highly touted 600EX II-RT - one of which should provide you plenty enough power for your application.

Yes, you can get cheaper Third Party alternatives, but w/o the Center Pin on the SL3, you WOULD be better off using the SL2, or another Canon model, if you wish to go that route.

I, personally, commend Canon's move, in this - as it prevents damage to their cameras, in the long run.

It is Canon cutting corners to maintain Max profit. The are just tossing you a dog biscuit keeping you distracted while taking 6 away.

Give us the latest DIGIC8 system is nice, it still isn't worth what they have taken with the other hand.

Yes you mentioned you have a Dial-UP Connection. Your right, I wouldn't pay for Dial-up in this day and age either.

SIX, now - huh, DW? … Well, if Canon's tossing out Dog Biscuits - they'd better make it SIX (one for one.)

I don't know about that - the Digic 8 is much faster than the 7, and much more capable, overall …

I think Canon did that, to protect the Beginner, Jerry. Doubt very much they will remove it on all future models, though - we'll see. The 1Dx3 is in the pipeline, and I'm sure the 5D5 is on the sidelines. The 90D is already on the way out the door - according to the news from Taiwan about a new patent. Of course, that camera could also be - the 7D3 … but some seem to think that series (pro DXI) is being ended …

It might protect less knowledgeable people who have an older flash unit for film or other cameras with much higher voltage that could fry a modern camera. But if so it sure took them a long time to get around to it and on only two models???

It doesn't matter how much faster or capable DIGIC 8 is if the camera doesn't have the features or things I want.

While those things they have left of the SL3 maybe ho hum for you to others it maybe just a make or break deal.

Those are the two MOST RECENT camera models, Jerry - and YES - they're BOTH aimed at Rank Beginners!

To my mind, buying a camera with the MOST RECENT CPU - makes a lotta sense. Then, having to deal with losses - in exchange - only is important - to those who also have the previous model, DW ... and, if that's the case - it probably IS impractical - to consider purchase of the SL3.
