He made an interesting comment/observation about that photo. He said he could easily have artificially created that image, but believes photographs should be made in the camera, not on the computer. He will trudge hours and wait hours for the "perfect shot!"

Many of us need the computer to produce what the true photo artist achieves with the camera/lens. Separates the giants from us little people.

I saw the 60 minutes segment. It already ran some time ago but it was very interesting nevertheless. I'll be in the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone parks in a few days so it's of immediate interest. We'll stay in Jackson Hole for a couple of nights, so a visit to the gallery is definitely there!

Please, I can't find any information on this tragedy but what you stated. Can you share more information with me or give me a site to go to? Jack and Gina Bayles, aka Team 399, of Jack Bayles Photography are friends of mine and I am unable to reach them. Any update you can share would be greatly appreciated. I have seen 399 and she was a magnificent Mother and Grandmother; possibly the most famous grizzly sow in the world.

FYI..... Bear 399 was killed by vehicle in the park

Please see my reply regarding 399. I am sorry, this is my first time replying to any subject and I initially posted it wrong. Any information you can share with me about the death of 399 would be greatly appreciated and if you have a site you can share I would be most grateful.

Apparently 399 was erroniusly rported as lkilled, when it was likely her cub, Snowy, that was lost.

Thanks for the help on how to post/reply. Still have sadness to dispel regarding 399, but thrilled it may have been an erroneous report. Thanks you again.

Thomas shot with several cameras, but some of his best shots were done using the Fuji medium format panorama cameras. I don't exactly remenber the two sizes he used, but I believe one of them was either 6 X 15 or 6 X 17. He had a gallery in Breckinridge, Colorado that I would always go in to view the prints. Being made from medium format film, they were spectacular in size and detail. He had one fall Alaskan shot that was an alpine meadow with mountains to both sides of the panoramic with a river valley and mountain range in the middle. If one looked just right of center on this about 4' X 10' print, there was about a 1" bear going across the meadow. And the detail was good enough that there was no question it was a bear. His patience was always rewarded.

You are welcome. As a wildlife/wildscape photographer, I try to keep up with the latest happenings especially the most famous matriarchs and patriarchs. I spent 7 days with Jack and Gina this past February/March in Yellowstone and it was everything I had ever dreamed about wolves, bison, fox, and otters in a snowy settings with -32 degrees.

At the top choose “Create New Topic.” Follow input directions for title, etc.
Go to “Browse” and select photo from your computer files.
Check “Store Orig.”
Click “Upload.”
Click “Send.”
This is from memory, so a few of the words may vary, but you can work your way through the process. Good luck, and I think we all will enjoy your work.
