I'm scheduled for surgery next week for a complete separation of my Achilles tendon in my left ankle. My son says that's what happens when a 65 year old guy spends his time chasing around and photographing big Alaska Brown Bears instead of playing chess.
Doc says it will be a three month recovery. No Alaska trip for me this year It was going to be a great one with a sister, 2 brothers and a sister-in-law.
I have had a bunch of family photos (a couple hundred) I've been planning to photo-copy for more than a year. What better project to work on with 3 months on the sidelines staring me in the face?
I just received a photo-copy set up with LED lights from B&H. Who knew it would be that expensive?. So between the copy project and hassling all my UHH on-line buds, I think I will be able to keep busy.
I'll let you all know how it comes out.

Best wishes and prayers.

Offer to let the therapist come along then you promise the Doc you will just ride along as navigator and camp security (take pictures from a chair of stuff that visits the camp). And promise you will do your therapy every day. Might work!?!?!?!?!

"His Achilles Tendon" is a general term for a weakness.. in your case, you Achilles Tendon is your Achilles Tendon. In the army jumping out of the back of a truck, without paratrooper training, I strained my Achilles Tendon and was on light duty for two weeks... it indeed is painful... my sympathy.

Sorry, you will never play professional football again... my standard reply to man or woman who has foot, knee or hip problem. usually invokes a smile... none ever had played pro.. or even for fun amateur football since they were kids.

I see you're a full-timer, so you're surrounded by the best people in the world...other campers. I went that route for over 22 years, so I experienced the joys you have. Hope your recovery is a good one, and get back on the road again soon. djt

A tough injury and recovery for sure, but full recovery is likely. Very fit and young people sustain this injury and do well after surgery. I played chess in high school, but now at age 66 I travel and hike with my camera. I realize that 65 years is not old.

Sorry to hear that you are "down and out." I'm sure that you will be "out-and-about" in no time. Meanwhile, pawn to kings knight 2.
