I never get tired of watching the Great Blue Herons catch fish, and it is especially good when it all comes together and I'm able to get some decent photos. These were taken at our local park pond, early Sunday morning, before most of the human fishermen had arrived.
Herons either spear or pinch like chopsticks, or sometimes a combination. This catch was a pure "chopsticks" day.

Great series but it's not fair though. I've never caught a trout that large.

Hah! Don't feel bad. There has been many a day that this heron has out-shined our local pond fishermen!

Beautiful captures!
I’ve said this before, but each time I see a similar photo, I am totally amazed that the bird can manage to swallow such a large fish.
