Just full of hate, huh?
Take your meds and go back into your normal state of drug induced stupor you live in.

I am not familiar with camera recalls, would one think that all the cameras still on the market could still be subject to the recall or would Nikon ensure they are fixed before they are sold. If they did not, I would be thinking twice before purchasing a new Z right now!

They always roll out a few serial numbers at a time. The IBIS is the same IBIS on all the Z7's and Z6's. Just wait and see all will be recalled soon.

I said this earlier and got slammed as a Nikon hater.

That is how they usually start but eventually become wide spread. Nikon is known for this.

...that's fine, but, really, you'd think (t'ink?) that we who took the plunge into the Z line would stay up on things...kinda? So, you "informing" is a nice redundancy, but gets folks thinking in a negative direction, eh?

I do not agree, Nikon is taking the BULL by the horns, addressing the Elephant in the room. You on the other hand, are drifting into negative thoughts, STOP.

Camera's, like automobiles, tractors, vacuum cleaners, washers, dryers, radio's, TV's, cell phones, lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, etc. etc. etc. ALL HAVE RECALLS.
So, you are suggesting we stop buying any of these products that are currently having recalls?

Here is why.
If you did not buy your Z camera new but from someone who decided they didn't want it and did NOT get it fixed or tell you it is on a recall list. You then have no idea about this issue and get screwed by buying a defective camera etc.
This is why it is good to know even if it does not affect you at that moment. Nikon will NOT be sending recall notices to non-Z owners so they will be clueless about it.

If you hadn't posted about the recall, somebody else would have. In fact with the number of popular bloggers headlining it I expect there will be a (large) number of new threads here posted as if they were breaking news. For anyone who hasn't seen it yet this thread is breaking news.

As for all Z bodies going to be recalled, maybe yes maybe no. I follow recall notices for any car I own. Amazingly some recalls only affect vehicles built on one or two shifts. Sometimes it is one part supplier screwed up while others produce the same part not subjected to recall.

Not too long ago a Nikon exec said that depending on the model 50 - 70 percent of parts are purchased from
suppliers. Whether or not they get the same part from multiple sources wasn't mentioned, or I missed it.

Time will tell.

No, I am not suggesting everyone stop buying recalled products. However, I am about to purchase a Z6 myself to replace a D7100. When I read about the recall I decided to hold off until I know the one I purchase is past the recall. I just don't want to go to the trouble and expense of purchasing a new camera just to mail it back to Nikon for a fix. I was hoping someone would be able to say they fix all the ones in stores before asking the public to start mailing them in.

I would not purchase a car with a known defective air bag or any other device in the same condition. That said, I really like Nikon and trust that anything sold will be repaired but they can't control the impact to the users in all cases.

Either you or the retailer can run the serial number to see if a camera is on the recall list, before you make a purchase.

On the Z6 and Z7 it is probably just the mirror return. On almost all, or maybe all, the mirrors just ain't returning. Go figure.

Thank you, Architect. Mine is unaffected. Don't know why the natives are so restless here today.
