Either you or the retailer can run the serial number to see if a camera is on the recall list, before you make a purchase.

On the Z6 and Z7 it is probably just the mirror return. On almost all, or maybe all, the mirrors just ain't returning. Go figure.

What mirror is there on a mirrorless camera?

...I went to the Nikon site when this came up (Nikonians is a good resource for this stuff). It asked that I type in my serial number and I did so. Immediately received a return notification that my camera needed no maintenance. I notice you only shoot Canon, why are you so interested? I'm happy...going out the door to shoot with the thing!

You hit it on the head. A brand fanboy, in this case Canon, who finds joy is seeing that a certain specified group of cameras are having problems, being recalled for remedy, and wants to spin this in a certain way to make Nikon look somewhat less desirable. I hope this person is enjoying himself. By the way, my Z6 works just fine, with no IBIS problems. It, too, was not listed on those affected by the recall.

I believe that the poster that you are referring to also shoots with Nikon. So maybe not a Canon fanboy after all.

Yes I do shoot Nikon.
As I said before I have several Nikon cameras and associated lenses.
I like to defend Camon here because there is so much bias and false information put out here that just has to be corrected.
Ps a good friend was starting out. We went to a local store and I recommended the Nikon product and they got it and love it.
Again I just weary of the lies that are so prevalent about Canon here by Nikon/Sony fanboys that know absolutely nothing about what they are spewing.

Seriously I don't see that many Nikon posters taking shots at Canon and usually when they do they're just having a laugh. Most users here know there isn't any real difference from one to the other.
On the other hand there's the Sony users............................

For years now there was the BS that Canon was always changing mounts which was totally a lie.
The R, FL and FD were all the same mount just like the Nikon 12 different mounts were the same.
Lens will mount but as time went on features were added to both. But over 30 years ago Canon developed the EF mount and this convinced me and many other camera users including most every pro that it was so far advanced over the mechanical crap all others were using even though it meant going to a truly new mount it proved visionary even to this day in allowing all EF mounts to work 100% with the RF mount. No one else can claim this.
I still use Nikon and Canon but will admit the EF mount is superior.
The RF mount has confirmed this to everyone.
All systems do very well and that is why they are still in business. I would not feel under gunned with any of them.
This post was started as stated in order to let those who might acquire a used Z model to ensure it has been fixed or if not get it fixed. Nikon will not contact used users and many, even here, would never have know had this not been posted. Amazing how many needed to check and had not done so until this thread was started so I was right in providing information, it had no good or bad comment with it just information for the forum. I guess if I had been a Nikon fanboy there would have been praise for letting all know rather than personal attacks and ridicule.

I am not familiar with camera recalls, would one think that all the cameras still on the market could still be subject to the recall or would Nikon ensure they are fixed before they are sold. If they did not, I would be thinking twice before purchasing a new Z right now!

A buyer of used equipment can enter the SN of the article they bought on the Nikon website. Then you can check for recalls on it and they will send you future notices that affect your equipment.

I suspect Nikon would check for and correct any recalls when refurbing.
