I have couple of pictures of Yogi with my eldest son, then 6 years old, on the Boca Teeca golf course during the Thurman Munson Memorial Golf Tournament.
Great pictures.

That came to mind right away. Supposedly, there was a legitimate reason for that statement. When driving to his house, you could take either fork in the road to get there. Maybe that's true, and maybe it isn't.

The “fork” took you into a circular road so it really didn’t matter which way went. Left or right would still get you to the house.

I always take the wrong fork. I stink in directions, even with a GPS! But one thing I learned from my brother, "no matter what it always gets you there." Life lessoned learned.

"I can't tell if the autograph is printed or real" It was real, because Yogi is the real deal! I am going to photograph on June 22, the Jackals Baseball Game and Fireworks.

Thanks. I tended to think that it was real, but could I really hope that it was? Despite being a Yogi fan, I was a tried and true Tiger fan. 1961, ofc, was a big year. Everybody was talking about Mantle and Maris, but there was also a pennant race going on between the Yankees and Tigers. Towards the end of the year both teams were very close in the standings and had a four game series. I particularly remember one play. Tigers had men on 1st and 3rd, so the man on 1st stole 2nd. Yogi made a good fake towards 2nd, pulling the man off third, made a quick throw to 3rd and picked him off. Yankees won all 4 games, won 108 while the Tigers won 101.

I pulled that play in h.s. practice and it worked perfectly. Didn't have the opportunity in a game.

How great is that? Yogi did let me get a photo of him when getting his autograph. I should have told him that I remembered that play from '61.

Born May 12, 1925. He was my man!!

A Yogi story: When Yogi was given the job of managing the Yankees, he was very nervous. He called his friend Billy Martin who had been sacked by Steinbrenner and told him so. Billy was very reassuring and told Yogi he knew the situation he was in and had prepared to help him through it. He told Yogi that he had two envelopes in the middle desk drawer of the managers office marked #1 and #2. He told Yogi that if things went bad to open envelope #1. Well things went great for a couple of weeks and the team was winning. Then they hit a skid and lost several games in a row. Remembering Billy's advice he went to his office and opened envelope #1. It read: "Blame every thing on me -- tell Steinbrenner that I made some bad trades and you were doing the best you could with the team you inherited". This seemed to work and a few games later the club was again doing well. A month went by and then they began loosing again. They lost three series in a row and Yogi was really worried he might get canned. Then he remembered there was a second envelope and went to the desk once again. He opened the second envelope seeking more wisdom from his friend Billy. The note inside the envelope read: "Make up 2 envelopes".

Great Photo's! Have you thought about getting them restored? Does your son still have Yogi's autograph?

I tried myself on a few of them. I only have mounted 4x6's to work with.
Wish he did have Yogi's, or any of the autographs. He's not into baseball. Very heavily dedicated to football.

Amtrack used a line of his for a discount for a third passenger. “Pair up in threes”.

It's hard to think of Yogi without smiling. He was by boyhood hero, the reason I wanted to be a catcher. I'd skip school to watch the series. Found this page and it brought back many chuckles.

I believe it was the popular NY restaurant called Toots Shore. Yogi meant his friends had given up getting timely reservations because it was always over subscribed and they had stopped going there ....but many others did go.
