I have a Samsung Galaxy 6 that I've had for awhile, and it has a pretty good camera, 12 mp. I usually use it to document things, not for serious photography, but it serves me well. My avatar here was taken on my cellphone (and altered there, too), and when the morels finally show up here I'll be out with the cellphone to take pics. It does take great closeups, and works well in low light.

Thanks. My wife has a Galaxy 4 and she does netter.with it than I do with Note 4, as long as she holds it steady.

Samsung S9+ does a great job- best I've seen. Whatever on-board processing software they have renders the photos very well for screen viewing.

We all, well, almost all, have cell phones. I'd like to hear from you who have tried multiple cell phone cameras which you like the best and why.

Please, no photos in your replies, I just want to read what you have to say.

I currently use a Samsung Note 4 and after looking at the new Note phone, was not impressed with its capabilities.

Have read about the new Google Pixel 3 on various review sites, but don't trust review sites aa much as my fellow UHHers.

Thanks!!!

I have an iPhone 10xr it’s camera is sweet!

If your wallet is looking for breathing room, iPhone 10, new Samsung, and Pixel 3 XL are recommended. All are about a grand, I think. But, the latest Moto is also good and several hundred dollars less.

My Samsung Galaxy S9 takes excellent photos and has a Pro setting that gives a lot of focal points and option controls. It can also be configured to shoot RAW as well as jpg in the Pro setting.

A great point Bob. Maybe camera manufacturers are going the wrong way. They already have cameras that take incredible photographs, with the consumer's help of course. Perhaps they should be looking at adding a phone to the camera. Of course in 50 years there will probably be some method of a person thinking of calling someone and in a nano second that person will be talking in our ear. I am 73 so I will most likely be long gone.

You can do that now with all the new earbuds that have Siri or Alexa or the Samsung Voice control. Don't need to wait 50 years at all. I am getting to be 79 this year and am enjoying all the new technologies available.

Like almost every question about equipment that appears on UHH, it depends on what you want to do.

Main camera sensor wise the Huawei P30 Pro and the S10 are top.

But for selfies it is the Pixel 3 due to the wide angle lens and computational algorithms.

So when you ask about what xxxx is best, you need to include what the intended use is. In fact there are those who prefer the Pixel 3 for landscapes, again due to some of the computational work.

I should point out that I do not own a Pixel 3. But I wish I did.

Love my IPhone X, as long as you don’t zoom it and have decent light it will do great. For pics that you don’t try to pixel peep you wouldn’t know it’s a cell phone pic especially outside photos.

My iPhone Xr does quite well even in low light. That is the biggest difference I have noticed since upgrading from the iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 wasn't good in low light.

That's rather old now! Back then we went thru a couple Samsung S models. The Note5 was pretty nice if you were really careful with avoiding bright lights in the image; pretty good in flat subdued light . I currently have a Note8, far improved 12MP (3x4 format). The Note5 & Note8 also shoot in RAW! My wife has a Note9 (as a warranty replacement). The Note9 and the Note8 have two back lenses and in some fashion a close and regular range. But I have not really figured that out yet. We rarely use the front camera (we're Babyboomers so we don't photograph ourselves incessantly). I have not tested this yet, but the reviews claim the Note9 does really well in low light. That I will have to see, considering I'm not even happy with the low light performance of my Pentax K-3 camera (My older K-5 does much better in low light). I believe the Note10 is coming out in August. But I use my "phones" mostly for email and web browsing and as a phone, and less for photography. I have too many cameras as it is.
