There is not much a President can do to improve an economy unless he inherits an economy struggling from gross over-taxation and/or regulation.

Trump inherited a slowly growing economy with healthy fundamentals, and he has done nothing to derail it...like Dubya did. It was already accelerating a bit before he took over and has done nothing but take off since.

It will be interesting to see how interference and attacks on the FED work out.

This whole bs deal evolved due your inability to follow what you posted, and I referenced it in my original reply. Your insistence regarding my opinion the state of the economy had nothing to do with my answer. Here is another clarification that I offer end you ignored it due to your fixation with your own state of the economy deflection:

"I'm talking about unemployment and economic statistics for each of the past ten years or so that will make your proclamations regarding trumps great successes little more than wishful thinking. Your fixation on your incorrect thoughts that I stated or implied the economy was not doing well are totally in left field. I don't have to provide any numbers, but rather you've got to look at them and see for yourself that your statements lack merit. Google is your friend...""

You persist in not answering and justify it with your assertion that I said the economy is not doing well. You were even able to draw Big Bear into a nothing burger and unrelated reply. Congrats!

If things are so simple, answer my original question. Support your statement of the fine job that trump is solely responsible for.

Glad to answer. When Obama was the President he did nothing to keep coal and steel jobs from going down the drain. He did nothing that I ever saw that created jobs in America. But he did do much to create jobs in other countries. My idea of a good President is one who looks to making HIS country great rather than making other countries great while his country goes down the tubes.

Along those lines I distinctly recall Trump in Switzerland talking to a number of European businessmen who promised they would open factories in America thereby creating jobs in America for Americans. Trump also opened up drilling for oil in America creating jobs in our country for Americans. To my knowledge America is now independent from purchasing foreign oil if we want to be. We can also sell oil on the market if we want. Obama never created any jobs for Americans but Trump did. As for the coal and steel, maybe they are not much as they used to be but we are back in the coal and steel business. You surely remember Hillary Clinton telling America on national television she will shut down the coal business in America.

That is what I am talking about. That is why I don't care about the past 10 years. Perhaps we are having two different conversations but I am only asking if America is not better now than we were before Trump became the President. I say we are better. I don't care who you give credit to. Give it all to Obama if you like but Obama did nothing regarding what I claimed above. He did the exact opposite. So I do give Trump the credit.

Dennis

Obakapig was nothing but Jimmy Carter Malaise. Stagnant, going nowhere. Destroying several markets like healthcare. ACA is a nightmare. At least twice the cost healthcare should be. It’s only good if you’re sick or getting a subsidy. Otherwise it’s just not affordable.

Trump made some easy obvious changes that made the economy boom. JFK did the same too.

It’s policy and policy results. Obakapig did not build that. Trump did. He came through with many promises.

My criticism was that Trump was not solely responsible for the economic recovery and that if one examined the readily available statistics on economic and unemployment improvement during the past 10 or so years it would be quite apparent that Trump was able to continue the improvement taking place. Obviously there were various ups and downs from area to area.

President Trump may indeed not be solely responsible for my local economic upturn, but under Obama we saw a rapid and steady decline, and this continued until about 90 days into the Trump administration when things began to improve. This improvement continues today, and after 8 years of steady decline it is hard to credit the Obama administration with anything other than a failure concerning our local economy.

I think you mean that Obama did not artificially keep dirty coal jobs alive. How many actual coal jobs do you think there are. How many potential clean energy jobs should there be. There would be steel jobs available if Trump and the republicans cared about infrastructure. But nothing for two years. Dems are finagling another infrastructure bill but Trump will probably veto.

Unless your little town is different than the United States, this is a direct lie that has been proved several times. Quit reading your Fox News and enlarge your prospective.

Job numbers are up, unemployment numbers are down, lowest black unemployment in decades. Sounds good to me.

It was put into clean energy jobs. Also into welfare for Missouri farmers. You know, to grow corn that goes into ethanol that we do not need since we are a petroleum exporter not importer. Can’t get away from it because farmers cannot quit feeding on the government teat.
