[quote=Blurryeyed]You are flat out wrong, BLS figures do not agree with this assertion of yours.

So, either you are not well informed or you are lying, I would assume the former.

Or you are using the wrong tool. Income includes the revenue streams from wages, salaries, interest on a savings account, dividends from shares of stock, rent, and profits from selling something for more than you paid for it. Unlike wealth statistics, income figures do not include the value of homes, stock, or other possessions. Income ine******y refers to the extent to which income is distributed in an uneven manner among a population.
The Congressional Budget Office defines after-tax income as “before-tax income minus federal taxes.” After taxes, top 1 percent incomes were already increasing faster than for other Americans. This gap will likely grow even wider as a result of the 2017 Republican tax cuts, which disproportionately benefit the wealthy. According to the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, the richest 1 percent of Americans are expected to receive 27 percent of the benefits of the tax cuts in 2019.

Is that a deflection? So is the economy doing well now or not? That is the real crux of this discussion. If it is doing poorly then say so. If it is doing well then admit it is doing well. I am not interested in the past 10 years. I am also not interested in the Left's projection of what could happen in the future. I am asking, is the economy doing well right now?

Yeah, it must be a deflection. Your inability to follow a thought is quite alarming. I have offered several explanations and a means for you to back up your allegations with facts. Until you can do so, don't bother me with bs queries as your method of deflection. If you're not interested in what happened during the last ten years, don't piss on my feet and tell me it's raining.

I know what you say about the people who run this state as being incompetent.
I also see your words toward those who also oppose those same types of people at the federal level.

So you feel it important to interject that thought into a conversation that has nothing to do with that topic? Pleas hold that thought because I really don't care. People who are totally sucked in by politicians have nothing to say that could be construed as intelligent.

Dave I guess we are done for today. I simply asked you one question. Is America doing well economically now. I don't need 10 years of statistics from every agency you can come up with. Just one answer, yes or no.

Apparently that isn't working for you in the context of this conversation. Apparently you are unable to follow that simple thought with a one word answer. Have a wonderful day.

There we go again, those who pay the most in taxes receive the largest $ benefit of a tax cut, simple math, as a percentage of income your words do not hold true.

That sure doesn't seem very fair.....fair considering they pay 37% of the taxes.

This whole bs deal evolved due your inability to follow what you posted, and I referenced it in my original reply. Your insistence regarding my opinion the state of the economy had nothing to do with my answer. Here is another clarification that I offer end you ignored it due to your fixation with your own state of the economy deflection:

"I'm talking about unemployment and economic statistics for each of the past ten years or so that will make your proclamations regarding trumps great successes little more than wishful thinking. Your fixation on your incorrect thoughts that I stated or implied the economy was not doing well are totally in left field. I don't have to provide any numbers, but rather you've got to look at them and see for yourself that your statements lack merit. Google is your friend...""

You persist in not answering and justify it with your assertion that I said the economy is not doing well. You were even able to draw Big Bear into a nothing burger and unrelated reply. Congrats!

If things are so simple, answer my original question. Support your statement of the fine job that trump is solely responsible for.

You think that because of your Liberal mindset, that being anyone more successful than you should be punished for it.

Dave, I have been following your dialogue with Dennis and I don't pretend to understand the actual economics of this issue, from my standpoint my town is better off now than under the Obama administration. Under Obama we lost business, population, and jobs in our area. Under the Trump administration the empty shops on main street are now occupied with actual construction under way for new businesses. Our local paper has available job openings, there is a major travel center under construction on the edge of town and the empty homes are being purchases and occupied. This is a major change from the previous administration.

My criticism was that Trump was not solely responsible for the economic recovery and that if one examined the readily available statistics on economic and unemployment improvement during the past 10 or so years it would be quite apparent that Trump was able to continue the improvement taking place. Obviously there were various ups and downs from area to area.

Trump has done one thing that successful Presidents do...he hasn't done much of anything to mess up a growing economy.

There is not much a President can do to improve an economy unless he inherits an economy struggling from gross over-taxation and/or regulation.

Trump inherited a slowly growing economy with healthy fundamentals, and he has done nothing to derail it...like Dubya did. It was already accelerating a bit before he took over and has done nothing but take off since.
