Hi- I got my SX 40 in May for a trip to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. I absolutely love it. It goes where I go. Particularly love it for bird and other wildlife shots. This is my first post will go back and introduce myself when I can get to the computer.

Don, I am trying to make up my mind between the SX40 and the as yet unavailable Lumix fz200. would uou take a picture at full resolution with some detail in it and post it with the download so I can view it at 100%

If you own an SX 40, just log in and be counted. If you want, add no more than two sentences about how you like it. Let's see how many of there are of us by next week.

I also own an SX40. I like it very much, the best carry around camera I have ever owned!

Love mine. Got it in May. Use mostly on auto and scene modes, but am beginning to venture out to manual. Love the wildlife and bird shots. I'm a newbie here. Lost my first response in cyberspace! Hope this one makes it!

Great camera so far. Have had it for about two weeks now. Just getting use to all the options. I'm impressed so far.
Just got mine and learning how to use it. I, too, would love to know the setting used for the Dragon Fly. Great photos!
Count me in. I have one and like the size, zoom range, full HD movies and am amazed with some of the digital zoom pictures - even though you probably wouldn't print them as 8x10. Would like a smaller focus point and faster auto focus time. Overall very happy with it. Made the choice of this camera over a 150-500 mm lens for my DSLR - about $1200.00 difference.
Mine always rides "shotgun"... and, with CHDK, delivers RAW files. Hands down, the best dollar value in photography today; it's there to guaran-damn-tee you get the shot that you'd miss were it necessary to unlimber your DSLR kit!

Yes to the SX 40. I have to admit I haven't used it much but loaned it to a friend for his trip to Europe and he loved it and wants to buy it from me. I edited his photos and must admit the camera (and him) did a fabulous job. Here's one photo....
Hi there. I am a canon sx40 owner. I have yet to try to manual mode yet but enjoy learning. When I first purchased it I seriously wanted to return it as I found it very overwhelming to use. However, I did get the manual printed into a book so I accessed the information frequently and now, I am starting to really love my camera. the only thing I do not like is the macro mode. I am looking into buying a raynox lense for this purpose however.
Love my SX40!! 5 months now and still learning!!
Great camera amazing sharpness, wonderful long lens shots, unbelievable.

Got my Raynox DCR 150 from Adorama. Comes in a nice box. You need the filter adaptor also to fix the Raynox. It has a nice pinch off so you can easly go from the Raynox to the regular lens. Have not used the Raynox yet.

Bought mine yesterday. I needed something light to hold and the fixed lense.
It is still in the box but I hope to get it up and going this evening. I shall keep in touch on my progress(if any) meanwhile I am nursing my wee g-daughter who has another bout of tonsillitis
