Use AirDrop with Bluetooth on both devices turned on.
And both devices on the same Wifi network.
Just Google “How use Apple AirDrop.”

Use the Airdrop app that comes on the iPad and iMac. Google it to see how to set it up and use it.

I have found that Airdrop is the easiest way to transfer. One problem is the age of the iPad and iMac. There have been changes in Bluetooth so the iPad may not see the iMac. My iPhone sees my 2013 iMac but not my 2011 MBP. Information on Airdrop is at:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203106

Another responder mentioned Photosync. I use this to transfer from my iPhone to my MBP.

It only allows jpgs. Image Capture lets you transfer RAW images.

I have transferred RAW files using Photosync.

You cant.

BobHartung said that PhotoSync doesn't transfer raw, so the way that he phrased his answer to me as a response to using PhotoSync for transferring images from an iPad, it implied that he thought raw would be on the iPad. I would think that since the iPad does not shoot raw images, then PhotoSync should be perfect for that transfer and so I still think my suggestion is valid.

Thanks and isn't it the easiest solution for transferring images back and forth? I really like it much better than the other ways because there's nothing to setup. The images are automatically transferred to a PhotoSync file and even a cave man could do it......

And how is this helping the OP’s inquiry???

I thought it was clear and concise. Sometimes the obvious isn't so obvious. It is nice to know there is something on the topic on Google or Bing or Yahoo....whatever. :0)

We should welcome inquiries. Not shuffle folks off to the internet. The many valuable responses here prove why this site is so valuable. My point is some folks like to scour the internet. Others enjoy the great and well-meaning feedback as provided here. If you don’t have anything valuable to add, don’t respond. It’s that simple.

And thanks to all who replied with your great experience and expertise. You represent the true spirit of what UHH is all about.

I did a lot of search and found out my photos of 2016 went to the pages folder. Those were photos taken in Okinawa, and had several photos of my wife's mother that passed away last year. I restored my imac, and the seagate external hard drive only had data up to 2015. Before 2015 and after 2016, I have no problems as I have the sd cards, but the first problem is that I have to sent the photos from pages to photos on my ipad, than from ipad to imac. Tomorrow I am heading to the Apple store and seek some help.
Thanks everyone, I appreciated the help very much.

If you have the sd cards, couldn’t you insert an sd card directly into the iMac and load the information from there? If you can’t, you could certainly insert the sd card into a card reader and insert the reader into one of the USB slots on the iMac. I think we’ve been giving advice on how to solve the wrong problem, but the range of solutions have been very interesting.

If I had the sd card with the 2016 phots I would just insert to the back of the imac next to the usb ports, but somehow I can't find the card.

Thanks in advance.

So I haven't read all of the posts but I'll give my take on the easiest way to transfer photos from an iPad to an iMac.
Make sure both iMac and iPad have the latest OS/iOS and Photos app is on both the iMac and iPad. ( they usually comes preloaded from apple)

Start iMac>launch Photos> plug the iPad > on the left side of the Photos screen find the name of the iPad under devices>click on iPad name>at the top right of the screen click the import all new items.

Wait for process to finish. Length of time depends on the number of photos to be imported. When the process is completed, you can click on the Photos icon on the top left of the Photos screen and you should be able to find your photos.

As a permanent process, you can set up iTunes to automatically launch the Photos app every time you plug the iPad into the iMac.
This is the quickest way without having to use iCloud, external or third party apps.
