Anybody give me positive or negative about this company?

When it was actually in Maine, it was a good store. Then they shut down, sold the name, and the store moved around a bit. Now, it a place to avoid. Camera makers control the prices, so if you see a low price, you're going to get low quality service.

Alternatives -
Adorama, Amazon, B&H, Cameta, Costco, Crutchfield, Hunt’s, Robert’s

Abe's have given Maine a real problem when it comes to black eyes.

You've been a member here since 2012 and never saw one of what seems like hundreds of posts telling others to say away from Abe's of Maine?

I’ve purchased from them in the distant past and had no problems. As Jerry stated the company was sold in the past and I noticed their (shall I say) strange and extremely low prices than started to hear the complaints. With all the great reputable company’s in business today it’s not worth taking a chance. I now purchase all my equipment from B&H. They are simply a fantastic company, a knowledgeable staff and a wonderful return policy. There are other companies as well but I have a love affair going with B&H. Visit their store in Manhattan and you too will fall in love with them.

Stay away from Abe's of Maine and 42nd Street Photo. And you will be problem free.

This topic has been beaten to death over the last few years. Do a search here and you’ll make a quick decision. Hopefully, the right one.

I’m guessing this may just have to do with buying camera equipment from them?

A few years ago I completely remodeled my kitchen ... and ordered ALL my LG kitchen appliances on the phone from them. They had the cheapest prices, delivered them on time, brought them into my house and unboxed them, inspected them before they left, etc.

I couldn’t have been happier with the purchases, and have never had a problem with the appliances.

The only thing I can figure is that the camera department within Abe’s of Maine may have been acquired years ago. But that’s certainly no excuse for their shady practices.

I guess you don't live near the store. If not then why don't you buy from a reputable store? Lower prices? Today dealers can't really sell for lower price even if they want to.
