Spend some extra dollars and get one with larger pockets and better quality materials. Camera gear is just too valuable.

I had one years ago, but found it bulky and inconvenient. I relegated it to fishing use, as the pockets were big enough to hold my fly boxes! If you're not carrying much gear, it's a lot better, but I have a tendency to want to bring several lenses if I'm trekking anywhere.
If you do get one, make sure that the pockets are big enough for your lenses. Nothing worse than the combination of a somewhat bulky vest and lenses in separate cases banging round on your belt.

Andy a Safari Photo Vest is the way to go from B&H I use one in the field and it is great holding my lenses and accessories.

Check out the MOVO MB2000 camera carrying system on Amazon. Costs about twice as much but much more versatile, and especially good in warm weather hiking. It's not a full vest so will be much cooler.

Thanks, Stan. I'll give it a look. During the cooler weather I generally wear a "barn coat" with two big side pockets big enough for lenses. It's the summertime when I wish I had a lightweight vest at times.

I don't always want to bring my camera bag when shooting. I am thinking a vest maybe helpful when trekking.
Is the attached screenshot a bargain or bust?
I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks,
Jim
They are also known as NERD JACKETS. Most are heavy because of the lenses and accessories folks always stuff in them.

The trick is not to carry anything in the pockets, and wear a jacket over it - no weight and no nerd.

No photo vest at his site and the language is only French with no other options.
Using the "Chrome" browser it offered to translate the page and I was able to find his store.
The vest is $200.00. Not sure if that is Canadian or US however.
The vests are okay for small items but provide no cover for your camera & lenses which are the only things that matter when I am out and away from the home or the car. There are a couple of companies that make vests where the camera snaps into a carrying sling assy that can mange 2 cameras easily but the gears still gets wet...they run about $150.00 and are quite substantial for hiking with your gear over rugged territory. You can even jog with the cameras in their holders......not that I would do that unless I was being chased by a Bear or M. Lion....haha.
Good Luck

If you use Google, there is an option to translate the whole page automatically. The vest is listed under Shop/Accessories tab but it's expensive
This vest is more like the one I purchased many years ago. It is a Domke Phototogs. Mine also has deep pockets across the back bottom edge straps that held the pockets somewhat closed. Those pockets are about 12" deep! Although I am an average-size female, I purchased a man's extra large vest. I wanted the largest pockets. The vest has pockets on the inside front too...it has mesh on the front top and back shoulders.
I am taking it out on a week-long photography course in Philadelphia. It's a good way to evenly distribute the weight of the equipment I want to bring.
I do bring the camera equipment in my camera case or my rolling camera bag. I'll depend on how much equipment I am bringing as to which case I will use.
I've carried my Canon 70 - 200 mm L lens as well as smaller lens using that jacket. I was able to evenly distribute the weight and I put my personal information ID, money, keys etc in the inside pockets.
The only time I had to quickly figure out how to be creative wearing the jacket was when we all went to a restaurant to have a meal. I didn't have my camera bag with me for it was back in the car. So, before I sat down I had to carefully gather up the bottom of my jacket ensuring that the nothing fell out when i sat down. That was a bit strange but it worked!
At the time, I either had the Canon 5D or 5DM3, which I wore using the camera strap. Now I have the 5DM4 and will do the same.
I did a couple of searches right now. I cannot find the vest I have. Mine is old and is aging quite well. If I were purchasing a vest now, I would purchase one with the quality equal to the quality of the gear I am using. Just my 2 cents worth...hope it helps!
I have one, it's been hanging in my closet for years!
I haven't ventured into the vest idea yet, but a friend of mine wears cargo pants when we go out to do some shoots. Not perfect, but he an carry a surprising amount of gear. I may try that myself.
