WOW!!! Stunning. Years ago I had a '60. Best and favorite car I've ever had.

Boy does that bring back memories. We had a white/red interior, 1954 Vet back in the 1960s. Used to feel like a million bucks well spent driving that puppy! Wonderful pictures, again.

Take another look- I thought it said 455 also, second look the 4 is an A.

You are right! And I’m glad, it would be a shame to ruin the collectors value of this relatively rare car.

My next-door neighbor, in Centerport, NY was an engineer at Lunn Laminates, in Huntington. Lunn built the bodies for those early Vettes and that is one of them.

Beautiful machine. I fell in love with a 1957 when I was 7 years old when I got a ride in one froma guy who worked for my dad. I finally got my own, a 2005. Thanks for posting these.

Great shots of a so-so car. It's a wonder the line survived after the 53-50 model years. They came equipped with a 6 cylinder, 3 speed, PowerGlide was optional. The Corvette was nothing except a pretty car that was reasonably fast in a straight line. Exceptional modifications were required to make it turn in either direction. It's reputation on the drag strip came from the likes of Micky Thompson. On the road circuit the cars were only competitive by sponsored teams. It was not a "drive to the track, tape the headlights and race type car.

They are now, of course, a totally different car. Competitive almost right out of the box and from what I am told by those who have on a joy to drive. Only two problems remain with the Corvette--cost and the fact I am too old and stiff to get in one let alone get back out again.
