Clever. Actually, once upon a time, DST made sense because it increased the productivity of farms, which was needed in WW I. Not so much now.

Why eliminate standard time? It's the daylight saving time that should be eliminated.

Daylight Saving Time provides and extra hour of daylight in the evening compared to Standard Time, while Standard time provides an extra hour of daylight in the morning compared DST. I think most people would like that extra evening hour, at least that's the case in Florida.

Apparenly it's true, though, that you gain an actual day when you travel east 'round the world.

One solution is to put your camera on GMT and then you never have to change it no matter where you go.
That's the way my ham radio is set up.

In my opinion is better simply keep the time in standard time. The time in standard time indicates the position of the sun. If people need to work early or late simply change their working hours instead. Who says you have to start or end working at certain time?

I moved from Arizona to the NE corner of PA The sunrise time on 6/20 is 5:15 MST in Arizona and 5:26 AM EDT in PA. The sunsets on 6/20 at 7:30 PM MST in Arizona and at 8:37 PM EDT PA. Notice that Arizona is on standard time and that that daylight is about 50 mins less. How much benefit seems to depend on where you're located

Really? Your Nikon camera knows not just which day each year but what nation and what state/province/territory it, not you, is actually in??

Shazam! Maybe I should get rid of all four Sony cameras I own? Nah. Sorry, not to be nasty, but respectfully, I don’t believe your claim.

Why don't you believe what was said? When I read the OP, I immediately went to my Nikon D800 and was going to reset the time. Lo and behold, when I went into the setup menu, the time displayed was the exact current time. Why was that you might say... because my camera was set for my time zone and Daylight Savings time was turned on. The camera correctly set the time as it should be.

Maybe your comment was meant jokingly, as if "Billnikon" was implying that only Nikon cameras can automatically set the time correctly, but thats not how your snarky comment appeared to me and possibly others. Just another example of some cranky Hog who thinks he knows it all IMO.

I have both a watch and a clock that change times automatically, as does my phone, tablet computer, lap tops and desk tops, so why not a camera? I have not checked my Nikons, but I will tonight.

I sure like the extra hour after work.
It allows a lot of daylight for me to work on outside projects freeing up the weekends for fun.
