I agree - heaps of photo ops.

We have a couple of medieval fests in our area.

Two dimensions of the Pivo (beer) and Burger Festival in Ljubljana, Slovenia in June 2017. The pivo was from a small kiosk while the burger was from 'Pop's Place' the home of the best burgers in LJ. I discovered Pop's Place at this festival (though I'd photographed it several times while wandering along the Ljubljanica river). It became my "Cheers" for the duration of my stay. A must on return visits.

p.1. Polka music is a favorite in our house too Looks like lots of fun.

Part of an effort to revitalize Steubenville's moribund downtown, the city sponsors a monthly "First Friday on Fourth" event - kind of like a festival. It was a great opportunity to get some street shots.

Sure. I would say a festival is anything where people gather to participate in a special event. I guess I should have made that clear in my OP.

Thanks!

That first shot is fantastic - you caught the look in the horse's eye, the splintering of the lance, and the little pieces of wood flying in the air!

In cities and towns large and small, and all around the world, festivals of various types can be found all through the year. There are fire & ice festivals in winter, summer solstice celebrations, festivals celebrating particular cultures or ethnicities, food festivals, craft beer festivals. The variety is endless. But the one thing they all have in common is that they provide boundless photo opportunities.

I like music festivals. To get things started, here are some of my shots taken between 2003 and 2008 at Jerry Garcia’s Birthday Bash at Sunshine Daydream in Terra Alta WV.

These were all taken with my first digital camera – a Minolta Dimage 7Hi so I apologize in advance for the higher than normal noise in the night pictures.

Love the low light shots, especially the guitarist.

The kids are amazing! They audition, are given music to practice and in 2 days - put it together! Also a smaller elite choir, orchestra, and concert band.
