Which defies their OWN statement - vis-à-vis - the turning of the earth's axis ….

For their anniversary, they fine tuned both the gyros and algorithms and managed one more stop. Since the E-M1X has GPS and a compass built in, for all I know Olympus may have added an algorithm to compensate for a short arc as the earth turns. Or maybe just tightening up the tolerances and algorithms was enough to get the one more stop.

The new 150-400 comes with the 1.25X teleconverter built in. Turned on, the lens is now a 188-500 (375-1000 angle of view) at about f5. Add on the 2X teleconverter. Now one has a 375-1000 lens (750-2000 angle of view) at about f10. It looks to be about 15 or 16 inches and about 4 or 4.5 pounds (comparing it to the 300 f4). And since the 300 is $2500, my best guess is $5000, maybe more.

AND - the kneebone's connected to the thighbone, and the ….

Five grand, huh? … Just in GLASS????

WOW, WD!!!! … add in an E-M1X … and now you're up to EIGHT GRAND!

Sooner have a Pentax 645Z !!!!!

Kinda like having February be short of 30-31, and kicking in another day every four years, huh, WD?

Canon EOS-1DX mrII = $5500
Canon EF 600 f4 IS mrIII = $13000
Now no matter what the E-M1X and 150-400 cost, it is a bargain. More camera and lens at less cost. I can promise you there is no way I could ever afford a EOS-1DX mrII and a EF 600 f4 IS mrIII. But in the next two to five years, there is a chance I could afford the E-M1X and 150-400. And if I forego the E-M1X, since I already have the E-M1mrII, it is entirely possible to own the 150-400. And I would have a better system for all kinds of photography.

THIRTEEN GRAND???? … for a measly 600mm lens, huh, WD?

I say - is that thing made of gold, or what?

So, listen, WD … is that 150-400 an OIS lens, or not? … What's that, in effect - 300-800 (FF equiv.) ???

I have a Lumix G85 with dual IBIS. It's pretty
impressive, and I only have the first generation
version. I get very good handheld and can't
imagine going without it. The only downside is
remembering to turn it off when using a tripod.

I had an amount of rewards dollars about to
expire at BestBuy and so went browsing the
open box specials. Wound up with a G85 kit
with the 12-60.

You don't see ANY online buzz about the G85
prolly cuz it's not a new flagship model nor
does it introduce anything new at all. All it is
happens to be a very good camera at a very
fair price. Only UltraGreat Cameras at Rather
Exorbitant Prices are buzzworthy.

Anywho, I did check for buzz before buying
and since a lack of buzz means a lack of bad
reviews, it followed me home. The G85, not
to be confused with the GX85, is no "unsung
hero". It's more of a reliable foot soldier. Not
especially interesting to peepers, geeks, and
trolls ... so this may be the only thread that
ever even mentions it at all, anywhere in all
these subforums.

We now return you to our regular scheduled
program of Know-it-Alls and WannaBees, in
full battle array. Enjoy the show !

Sersuya Katakoa from Olympus says :
"The in-body stabilisation itself gives 5.5 steps, and
the Sync IS gives 6.5 steps with OIS lenses. 6.5 stops
is actually a theoretical limitation at the moment due
to rotation of the earth interfering with gyro sensors."

Wouldn't that vary with latitude ? 4.5 stops
near the equator, 9 stops in near the poles ?

And then acoarst, there's the tides, and the
general background rumble of the galaxy !

EXACTLY, USER ID … that 7.5 stops was probably measured in Fairbanks, Alaska …

Go to the North Pole, or Antarctica … and now you're looking at 9-11 stops!!!!

Only thing is … at either of those places, your lenses are likely to freeze up …

So, now … you've gone FULL CIRCLE (Arctic)

Taken in Fairbanks, January 2012 with my old Olympus E-5 (4/3, not m4/3) and the 7-14mm f4. Bitter cold that day (well below 0 most of that morning/afternoon). Had zero issues, besides cold toes and fingers.
