Phone spoofing & scammers

In the past few days my cell has been getting calls where the # is randomly generated, or spoofed, to try and fool the target and get them to answer. I have my phone on the ‘do not disturb’ setting and accepting only calls from numbers in my contacts. Each of the calls from this scammer are similar to the prior one and are easily identified as a scam, but just the fact that the telco companies allow this is an outrage. They have the ability to identify and root out these scammers, but it makes them a few bucks so they do little or nothing to stop it. The options the telcos give their customers to block these calls isn’t a very effective one either.
Well, that’s the extent of my rant. It just pisses me off to have these criminals getting away with this crap.
This is the transcript of the voicemail these @$$§0|£$ left.

It happens every where, I won't pick up my phone if I don't know the number, and let the answer machine take the call if they left a message even from my doctor. Even it shows the number that is from some government office like IRS, or social security, that is a scam because all government office won't call any one by phone, if they need to contact you they will send you mail directly. Scammer can make up or use the number from any office and makes it looks like real number.

Very annoying and they continue even if I have blocked the number.

If I get a call from a phone number that I'm not familiar with, even if it's a local number, I just hit the answer button and immediately cancel the call. If someone really wants to talk to me, they will call back.

Most of mine come from an unknown number, meaning that number is not associated with a person or account. They are an easy reject.

The "Do Not Call" registry is a JOKE! Both my home phone and my cell phone are on both the Federal and the State DNC registry. But that doesn't stop these rectums from calling. I usually get anywhere from 2 to 5 calls per day from them.

I would LOVE to see it become a FELONY for ANY telemarketer (AKA: Telemaggot) to call ANY number on those lists.

Perhaps the phone companies need to have to pay fines if they continue to allow spoofed numbers, and be prevented from raising their rates to cover the fines.

Before I got a Call Blocker V10000 (on sale a few months ago), I got about a dozen telemarketing calls a day on my home phone. This thing stopped them cold. Fortunately, they haven't hit my cell phone - yet.

I get these continuesly. They even called me from my own cell number. I called Apple and AT&T and there’s not much they can do. So, I blocked my own number which still allows me to call out. Really annoyed me.

When I get a spam call I generally add it to my contact list as SPAM. There are probably 50 numbers in there at present. I also changed the ringtone for that contact to a raspberry so I can recognize a repeat call and just turn it off without having to look at the phone.

Would you vote for:

If I am elected President, your phone will become yours again. Telemarketers that call "Do Not Call" numbers will be arrested and fined, phone companies that allow spoofing and robocalls will be fined and CEO's pictured on milk cartons, politicians who call during the few days before an election will have their actual vote total reduced by the number of unwanted calls made.

I think I would vote for you - IF you could actually make that law a fact.

What gets me is all the scams and unsolicited calls to my fax machine. A waste of paper and ink. Anything to scam you out of a buck.

I get these scam robo calls constantly on my cell phone. Many times it is the same area code as mine, or an area code from a State I have never known anyone from there. I even get them on my land-line phone. But, not as frequently. I just never answer any of them now.

When I retired, the number of good calls I got on my land line phone was about 1% of the total. I had it disconnected long before I actually moved away.
