Based in my experience with eBay, this is typical for eBay. And don't expect any help from PayPal if you used them. The eBay rule is 'bait&switch' both during & after the 'shafting.'

It seems to be the consensus.

Thanks jeep daddy

Is it possible that the 50-500 was a typo and they meant to type 150-500? Just wondering, but in any case you should get a refund and never trust that person again AND give them very bad feedback. That's how eBay works. You give them bad feedback and they get less bids on stuff and get less money. Sorry you didn't get what you thought you were bidding on.

Ebay has said to get the refund but the seller, kangiwa, had a great bunch of reviews. First thing I check also. Have had numerous contacts with kangiwa and nothing about a typo on the lense or anything.

Disagree completely. I've only ever disputed two transactions on eBay and got a prompt and courteous refund on both occasions. Vetting the seller helps, of course, but eBay and PayPal back up the transactions. In fact, I am a little reluctant to sell on eBay because they seem to bend over backwards on behalf of the buyer.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Guess I'll chalk it up to a experience and get the refund.

nonsense - the vast majority of ebay sellers are legit, PLUS ebay strongly favors buyers on any transaction -. just file a complaint and ebay will lean on the seller if you dont get a refund or replacement; same goes for paypal

ebay is hard on sellers, but still worthwhile - i've been a seller since 1999, mostly NG maps and classics illustrated comics - both of which are graded subjectively. i have a no questions return policy if someone disagrees with my grading. i get maybe 1 or 2 returns per year with thousands sold

If you do this it is a virtual certainty that they will file negative feedback on you, too. There used to be a procedure for protesting negative feedback when you have only done what you were required to do, but I don't know if it's still there. The one time I did it (years ago, item not as described and seller wouldn't refund, and ebay did not have the refund procedures they have today, so I left negative feedback and immediately got one back, which killed my 100% positive history) I think I had to pay ebay for the privilege. So if you have an excellent feedback rating, consider what a negative one will mean to you.

I recently bid on and won a sigma 50-500mm lens. Well when all was said and done the person "kangiwa" shipped an inferior sigma 150-500 lens. The lens has either scratched interior glass or junk in it that shows up on the photo's. I let them know they shipped the wrong lens and that I would return this and wanted the one I paid for. They have refused to send that one. "Bait and switch". After checking out the prices it seems the one that I bought sells for much more but mine was won on a bid. I think "kangiwa" just did the bait and switch because they didn't get what they wanted for the lens. I got it for $350 when others are asking for anywhere between $700-$1600. Has anyone had a similar experience? They should be required to send the one I bought since after the bid it is legally mine right? Any hints on what to do to get my lens? I've already contacted ebay and all they say is return it for a refund but I want my lens.

If you did not get what you ordered, you can initiate a return on line and Paypal will support you. Ask for also a return ship label. The box you check is not what you ordered.

That is so not true. All the op has to do is make contact with eBay and the op will be refunded.

Sorry to hear that, yours was just bad luck. Millions buy and sell daily, and experience smooth transactions.
