Yes it matters where you buy from. I like to buy from local "brick and mortar" stores who can give me good service. But you seem to be focused on Big Box stores. So I think you can evaluate you criteria based on that.

Best choices are ABC: Adorama, B&H, and Cameta. All have excellent customer service, free shipping, and maybe no sales tax. Plus 30 day return with no restocking fee.

Welcome to the forum. The key is buying from a USA authorized dealer. Many are selling the Z6 at a low price with their bundle for insurance. Run, don't walk way. Dealers like B&H and Adorama.

This advice is stupid!

Adorama and B&H (and Cameta) are the best in the world!

Thank you all so much! Im pretty sure that im going to go through adorama since you all suggest them... just went on their website and they have awesome bundles and insurance- so its a win win 😁 i really appreciate it!

You don’t need insurance. Nikon provides a one year warranty on cameras and five year on lenses. You get that from ABC.

I don't know if this has happened, yet, but the government has been cracking down on the "no sales tax" thing we've been enjoying for so long. I don't know if it has affected Adorama, B&H, Cameta and others, but online "stores" such as Amazon, because they "do business in" states that require sales tax, are required to charge the sales tax rate for the state you live in.

Yes. There is a court case. Amazon now charges it. But my new stuff from Adorama and Cameta in Nov and Dec did not.

Good to know. Didn't know how far they've gone with that by now. I'd LIKE to add some new stuff, but don't really NEED (more accurately, not in the budget!) any more stuff at the moment.

So as long as it says on their website theyre an authorized seller, that all that matters? Sorry i understand what you all are sayinf but how do i find out if theyre 100% an authorized usa seller?

â˜đŸ»This is the seller through walmart (walmart has an awesome deal right now and it seems too good to be true so i want to make sure).

I would be wary of third party sellers on Walmart.com and Amazon. Direct from Amazon is good, or one of the well known retailers like Adorama and B&H. Best Buy is fine, but I would avoid the pricey Best Buy warranty. Beach Camera has become a Canon dealer, but they have a reputation for selling grey market items without identifying them as such. (As well as bait & switch).

Confused by your snarky remark. I took his comment to mean that dealers like B&H and Adorama were the good ones. I understood him to say run away from others who are not authorized dealers. Which I agree with.

The best place to buy is from a local camera store. You did not mention where you are so it's impossible to recommend one...
Best Buy is also a good place to buy, just don't waste your money on an extended warranty or insurance plan. Odds are you will never use them so why waste your money gambling that you will.

A Z6 body retails for $1997 USD and any retailer selling one for considerably less than that is more than likely selling one that was not imported by Nikon USA and it will not have a Nikon USA warranty.

If you have home owners insurance, list your camera equipment on that policy.

I wouldn't care for any kind of insurance. Does the Best Buy actually have the camera in store? If they do I would buy from them unless you have a camera store nearby.

Best Buy will treat you right. So will B&H or Adorama. I spread my purchases around a little.

I wouldn't put too much faith in Best Buy's insurance. Reliable dealers - Adorama, Amazon, B&H, Cameta, Costco, Crutchfield, Hunt’s, Robert’s
