Excellent compositions. I've been using a 50mm lens for several weeks on bokeh type images and If this is what I have to look forward to with my 50mm lens on landscape images, I can't wait to get out there when the weather is more suited to my shooting style.

These are all wonderful, i like three the best, can you tell me what the reddish items in the background are? I am viewing on a smartphone and i can't figure it out. Very nice series, thanks!

The 'reddish items' are high mesas that rise above the generally up-sloping Sand Flats area seen in the foreground. The reddish color is that of a particular layer --specifically, cliff-forming Wingate sandstone-- that laccolithic (sub-volcanic) activity forced upward as the mountains were forming millions of years ago. The geology of the Colorado Plateau is extremely complex what with the results and effects over time of various up-thrusts, basement faults, collapsed salt domes, deposition, erosion, and more. As difficult to get a sense of on the little screen of my iPhone as it is on your smartphone, I'd imagine.

Very Nice! Your images are so rich in color, I wish you would post more about how you process them.

Thanks, Blurry. Your mention of wishing I'd post more about how I processed these (or any) shots made me wonder what the use of that might be, though. Its not as if I take a cookbook approach; every image is different and each is treated differently. And anything I might do might work for 'my eye,' but it may not 'work' for anyone else's. Suffice it to say that anything you can see in your head can be made so on a computer screen or on a piece of paper, and there are dozens of ways to get from point A to point B.
