Excellent. Thank you. I would like a true reflection of the fruit. I thought of a black tile but those are usually difficult to obtain.

Are you talking about something like the effect in the pictures below?

If so, I may be able to offer you some help. I see you already have one url where you can purchase the materials so in addition to assisting you in making sure the acrylic is what you want, I'll also give you a source and you can compare. I use both black and white, mostly black. The key to getting good shots is
in the light setup you use. On the first one below I used a single cheap umbrella with a single light and also "bathed" the scene with a little $2 led flashlight. It'll take a little experimenting but you can achieve some really good looking images using this stuff. On the second one below I had a distant window with outside light coming in and used the led flashlight on it too, not in just on spot but moving around. You can get some real good lighting ideas from watching videos on youtube.com about tabletop still life lighting setups at https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=tabletop+macro+still+life+lighting. The url to the acrylic is and I use the 1/8th inch 12x24:https://www.ebay.com/itm/PICK-YOUR-SIZE-BLACK-OR-WHITE-ACRYLIC-PLEXI-GLASS-1-8-OR-1-4-PLASTIC-SHEET/152394143740?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131231084308%26meid%3De75c4996bb804eef908a4687c29fa784%26pid%3D100010%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D8%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D271880202875%26itm%3D152394143740&_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109

My pleasure. You should get a lot of enjoyment out of your pursuit and hopefully I'll get to see some of your handy work on here. There's a lot of good folks in uhh who you can rely on to encourage you and all you have to do is shoot some of them private messages (PM) if you don't feel like asking in the open forum. You will be able to tell who the good guys are as you go along and become familiar with them on a daily basis and exposure to your questions in the open forum will invariably attract more ideas and opinions.
Take care and enjoy what you do. It can be very rewarding and satisfying.

`

There is some pretty sketchy "advice" online,
even in these forums, but advice accompanied
by proof-of-concept images is THE BEST !

Solid good show, gessman !

Mr. Gessman,
I watched some videos last night as directed. I have much to learn about lighting but I am willing to learn. Thank you for your advice. And, when I get some worthy photos, I will post them for critique. Not sure how to PM but I will figure that out too. Have a wonderful day.

The best one for me was fruit carefully placed in a very clean cut glass bowl and slightly tilted. The bowl sat on a black piece of shiny plexiglass. Experiment with various lighting techniques. I ended up with a light from above and one below and to the side at various powers. I was for a book cover years ago and sorry i know longer have the photo. Spent most of my time on lighting variations plus some spray to dull a few pieces of fruit and another spray (light cooking oil) to enhance the glow. Good luck.

I've seen some beautiful shots using what appears to be black glass or shiny plastic tile. I'm assuming lighting is the key.
