Hmmm, I wonder if anyone ever asked Georgia O'Keeffe what make of brush she used

Yes, but were those brushes grey market?

I think it would be helpful to include equipment info with photos that are posted. No need for exposure info such as shooting mode, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, etc. Just camera and lens. REGIS is always faithful with his bird photos.

Wouldn't you also want or need all the PP information, if any. That would be more useful to me at least.

I would much prefer to see posters who say "I use (such and such) lens and I get great results," but never posts their vision of what "great" is, to show us. I want to see those "great results." I would like to see images posted to explain what is often complicated ideas when only explained in words, as in: "...a picture is worth a thousand words." I would like for people to stop telling us how great they are and start showing us. I rarely care what you or your exif data says. This is a photography forum - about pictures. Let's see 'em. Use 'em to illustrate your point when applicable.

In the EXIF information of some photographs the details of the lens, (model, focal range, etc.), is given, then on many of them it isn't. Is this due to the camera and/or lens or other factors?

You need to spend more time in the Photo Gallery.

Typically, other factors, primarily a limitation their toolset, but also possibly a conscious decision to exclude that data into the image file created for posting.

Again, I want to thank those folks who post exit data. It has been helpful in my photography. I know some don't post exit data. That is their choice. It would be interesting as to the reasons they don't post exit data. I'm just curious.

Thanks. Somehow, I find that knowing this information seems to help me understand a bit more about the image.

I disagree with tagging locations. General area is ok but specifics not so much. Too many places are being overrun with copy cat photography that can't handle the traffic and people can trample areas and trash them pretty fast.

There are approximately 33 million seconds in a year. It has been awhile, but last count I saw was 87 million new born, down from 90 million. We have a much bigger issue than tagging locations. Just saying.

I agree. Photoshop for example, can make anywhere from a 1 to 100% difference in the effect of the pic.

Been there, done that. Some good, some bad. Often very boring. Same people, same subject, different day, different angle. I'm talking about the other sections where typically only words are used, like this section, where questions are asked about equipment recommendations, etc., and we get several posters with no basis for comparison who are only able to offer a recommendation of what they currently use to "get great results" and every kind of camera imaginable is represented. How is it useful when a large percentage of the most forceful people in a conversation have never posted an image for anyone to see?

Knowing the exposure info is only relevant to the lighting situation. You rely on the metering of the camera and make any necessary adjustment. You only adjust ISO to get better detail (low ISO) or a faster shutter speed (high ISO)

This statement is not entirely correct.
Sometime I adjust the ISO to get the aperture and/or possibly a slower shutter speed I want.

It's always easier to fool people than to convince them they've been fooled ...

A quick click on a person's URL name and then peruse their topics created (both the sections and any image-related posts) will tend to dispel / confirm the authority of their voice

Yabut, that's what I'm saying - often there's nothing there to be seen even if a new member knows how to do that, which I'm suspect most do not. We've got "experts" here who have been members for years espousing their expert opinions and advice who have yet to post a single image that would attest to the fact that they can "walk the walk."

God forbid you ask these experts to post a photo.
