I think it would be helpful to include equipment info with photos that are posted. No need for exposure info such as shooting mode, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, etc. Just camera and lens. REGIS is always faithful with his bird photos.

Just store the original file with the post. The curious can read the EXIF table. No need to repeat it...

Info such as ISO, exposure, focal length, aperture and shutter is more helpful to me personally. Location would be nice also. Whether it was shot with a Canon, Sony, Nikon.........etc. doesn't do much for me. I guess the bottom line is folks will include what they want in their topics.

I agree as someone on the newer side of learning the DSLR. While our results will certainly differ based on a number of reasons the seasoned photographer knows all too well. It’s a great starting point for the rest of us. Just like submitting a photo here and welcoming comments to find out what was wrong or right about the photo. I think it helps even an experienced shooter by showing a different approach in the settings to achieve a unique shot.

The camera /lens model does not take the photo...the photographer do. It’s more important to learn HOW it’s done, that is the exif data...ISO, aperture, shutter speed, mode etc.
Of course it is interesting to know what equipment is used, but many believe that a better, more expensive model takes better pictures, which of course is not true!

The problem is that you don’t get any EXIF date when you post a picture from your tablet
( which I have done a couple of times)

It would also be a good idea for people who want help to post pictures of their own, and ask for help. Some folks never post a picture but want information from others. Go figure!

The part of the equation that interests me, at least in the realm of closeups and still lifes in home/studio is what the photographer did, in detail, to achieve lighting I like. The camera body and lens are secondary to my interests. Nevertheless, good point.

Then I guess pros are wrong to be using that expensive glass.

I may be wrong but I think my EXIF gives focal length but not lens model.

Knowing the exposure info is only relevant to the lighting situation. You rely on the metering of the camera and make any necessary adjustment. You only adjust ISO to get better detail (low ISO) or a faster shutter speed (high ISO)
