I will often order from www.samys.com

No shipping and no tax

Living in NY that no tax part will probably change based on the recent Supreme Court ruling.

And a 6 month warranty? And identical unit pricing?

They do warranties on used. Don't know what "identical unit pricing" means?

Check them out yourself.

Bought a reconditioned Wacom tablet via Amazon (no prime) from Adorama. Ordered it Christmas Day. Paid extra for expedited shipping. According to tracking it has been at the UPS facility in Portland, OR (logged in 12/27 at 7:05 pm) for almost two days.
Sez it will arrive Wednesday.

Marilyn posted on our Facebook page and I invited her to contact me. I explained by email why there is a charge (see above)

While we all have had a transaction or three that leave a bit of a bad taste in our mouths (at any type of online retailer), I really have a problem with customers who run to social media (facebook etc.) or to forums like here and trash the seller BEFORE picking up the phone and asking for clarification and resolution of an issue.

Then we find out that Marilyn had to choose the shipping method and accept charges BEFORE she completed the purchase. I am not sure if I was a seller and I had a customer treat me in this manner that I would even want continue to have ongoing business with them. This would fall under "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone"....

Really 11 bucks on an $800 purchase AND she approved the charges before she bought? THEN she tries to trash the seller?? REALLY?

Some people just don't pay attention to what they are agreeing to when making their purchase. Or they're mad at themselves because they shopped around AFTER making the purchase.
Or they want what they want because they want it.

It means - are the warranties for 6 months? - And, if the OP had bought an identical lens from that retailer, would it have cost exactly the same as the one she purchased from Adorama (or possibly more, to allow for the shipping costs?)

I purchased a printer from Adorama thru Amazon and since I have Amazon Prime the shipping was free. Neat trick if you can find that desired lens etc on Amazon.

It is better to understand Anazon Prime as prepaid flat rate shipping. It isn’t free and they are about to raise the price 20% or so.

But it is still of great value to me.

Well I guess I will go back to eBay where they give free shipping.I purchased almost all my gear from Adorama but I think I will go elseware after this!

You need to look at the bottom line for the lowest cost. Price PLUS shipping is what counts. I have found that the free shipping items on Ebay and most other sites, are actually more expensive at least 40% of the time.

What did your "Prime" cost? Bezos is not the richest person on the planet because he is such a wonderful guy. My experience is Amazon actually offers very few "deals" on anything I am interested in buying. I use them only for a needed item that is unavailable anywhere else. In other words very seldom.

I happen to use B&H, but Adorama has many faithful, satisfied customers on UHH. I'm positive you wouldn't have paused in your purchase if that $11 had been hidden in the price of the lens itself.

What she said "exactically"!

At UsedPhotoPro the warranty is clearly stated, whatever it is. I would think Adorama and any reputable dealer does the same.

Why would you expect one dealer to have exactly the same pricing on identical items as another dealer?

The buyer ought to be able to add the shipping to the offered price to get the total, and compare it to another seller's price with "free shipping". This isn't a difficult concept.

I do not expect one dealer to have exactly the same price on identical terms as another dealer.

My queries were in relation to the statement that ‘X’ dealer offers ‘free’ shipping on used gear. Ergo Adorama should do likewise....

In this case, raised by the OP, she had ample opportunity to add the shipping price to the price of the lens and compare that total -PLUS the inclusion of a FREE 6-month warranty - with whosoever else she chose.

The OP is also most welcome to return the lens to us if on reflection she is aggrieved by the shipping cost.
